The playstyle is addictive and fun but you are standing still a lot. I think me taking it to CoC style will be interesting but will mean I’m going to have to be more diligent on accuracy and the change to tempered mind suck.

I’m life based right now and that will probably be ok but I’m not doing quite enough damage to make lightning leech viable off an amulet. I’ll most likely move over toward CI then LL. ES on hit would be killer, but I rarely have the 20+ex to spend on a single eye.

I think the main use of spellslinger is to cast combos. desecrate+DD/VD/cremation, etc. more direct spells, why not cast on crit, or cast on channelling? those will proc more often, and at 0 mana cost/reservation I believe.
spell slinger lets you proc two unlinked spells at the same time though.

spell slinger frost bolt, with CoCrit nova probably is good. multiple novas per bolt i believe.

non-crit spellcasting I suppose.

It is probably. I got in my head to try a lightning based version of that. Otherwise it ends up just being an inferior version of standard desecrate/VD or fb/nova coc builds. And it probably is.


I’ve been following Mathil’s use for his elementalist and he’s seeing the same issues I have and himself even suggested spellslinger as casting synergistic spells with another spell on a trigger. That suggests coc since you’ll get frequent attacks to trigger your spellslinger setups and your coc. That say inquisitor or assassin. Probably would have been better as inquis.

I think most 4L spellslingers reserve 25-35% mana. And your wand attacks are limited. Power siphon, barrage, etc. An interesting, but socket intensive, approach would be to slap two 4 link spellslingers, some spells in a poet’s pen then a barrage setup.

Shame you can't spellslinger ED/Contagion. My feeling is they put a bunch of balancing work into spellslinger for there to be any "wow!" combo. Years of Poet's Pen and CoC have likely paved the way for this.

Archmage support seems much more promising.

Yep. Once I get to reds on this guy archmage is next. I’m less interested in finishing endgame. I want to try these builds....

I looked at shock nova. Too upclose and personal for what I’m doing.

Trigger attacks I’m thinking flat up barrage. Does frenzy work with wands? All you care about is hitting with the attack. Trying to scale both via wandslinger just stretches your tree too much.

Maybe you could build around barrage or power siphon and kinetic bolt and stack a bunch of flat elemental damage and just use a single spellslinger to debuff? That would make wandslinger ok. I haven’t explored too many uniques for my thoughts yet.

I wish cold spells had something more like wave of conviction for exposure. I think cold would be easier to scale and much safer.

PoB has the new gems now. should make theorycrafting archmage easier now.

I think that one is actually more limited. brands, orb of storms, ball lightning.... (maybe winter orb, if you can sustain it) heavy preference for one cast, and it hitting repeatedly, esp if it can follow you.
Major instant boss kill potential though.

It's definitely limited in skill selection. But it offers up an interesting way to build your character. Unless you've played mana guardian, it was very rare to want mana nodes and affixes. And even then, they were just defensive. Now they are means to both offense and defense.

Also, brands are awesome. And Brand Recall just got a huge QoL boost with Second Wind support. Previously, you couldn't depend on Brand Recall for every pack, but with 2 charge and 30% increased CDR, you can get it down to about 1.2s and 2 charge, which should cover most clear speeds.

Ya i'm enjoying the way i can itemize with archmage + mom. Using Storm brand atm and it really zooms. I was talking BV before league but i have my doubts i can get it to work. Alltough ill try once i have some currency to waste but i'm still trying to 6link my real chest.

Are they going low life with the ivory tower? It just felt odd to me in my theorycrafting before league. Cause you're basically losing out on mom if you do LL. And you use thousands of mana in 1 cast so if you mistime it you might have an actual mana+life pool smaller than 3k or something right before a chaos hit whereas if you're not LL you still allways have 4-5k life atleast.

Basically i wasn't thrilled about it but i'd be interested in a pob if you have one.

Don't have one yet, just been reading up on it at work and pob updated just today. You're probably farther along in theorycrafting and playtesting than I am.

But, yes, you are correct, that is a general downside of Ivory Tower. Arcane Cloak does help mitigate that.

On the plus side you'd have like twice the damage i imagine. 30% LL x 22% wrath =1.59 and then a watcher's eye. Since i haven't tried it myself it's hard to estimate how much the detriments i mentioned would affect you. It's hard to make a case for hardcore but for softcore then thats a lot of damage.

Ofcourse you still can get an aura for the mom variant with essence worm or aul's uprising but thats a pretty heavy stat hit in the case of the ring or close to 100 ex if you want the aul neck.

more and more everytime I start a league I question why. this mechanic is fucking ass, and the performance is just a donkey punch in the nuts. I use to be the biggest ggg fanboy but fuck these guys, they are losing it imo

i'd actually wager money they built wolcen as a fucking LOLZ trap to show how fucking retarded arpg players actually are, and how much shit they'll eat

Watching Mathil do the some Delirium encounter, survive 20 waves, each with different modifiers and loot. Craaaaazy amount of loot from it.

Since hitting maps, I haven't had a single Delirium encounter work properly. Simply never any mobs deeper in, so I can never lvl the reward past 2.

Are you running over the orb things on the ground? I had that issue (not in maps yet but in general) so I've started plowing into any weird object I can find. Hopefully not a door/wall that I simply can't see

Yea, both the watermelons and piles, I avoid the ones that spawn the explody mobs. There are simply no Delirium mobs past a certain distance. It could also be that I only run the event after clearing the map / missions.
