Seeing things like this always make me question if I'm playing the same game as everyone else. Lockon's are a joke, forever to lock on, can't lock onto a good 2/3rds of what's in sight and attack range. And really, it takes what, 12, 15? lock-on's to reduce a lib to smoking? Ain't no one got time for that.

I mean, sure, if' you're hovering 15m off the ground in one place, yeh, you're going to get smoked pretty easy. But any sort of movement, or more realistic altitude and it takes a full clip of double burster max to take a lib down to 60ish % health, giving you plenty of time to pause your spam and rep up.
Yeah, it takes 2-3 simultaneous AA sources if you want to take down a lib in one pass. Aside from that the best you can do is force them to fly away. Usually after forcing them to fly off 2-3 times they'll just move on.

If you are using an annihilator they're the weakest of the lockons. The main AA lockon can do some pretty mean damage.

I take down liberators with a Skyguard, using the zerg as an assist.

Skyguard + racer 3 + Stealth armor. Find a good spot a little bit away from the main group, but not too far that you can't run to it if you get into trouble. Let the liberators make their pass and take damage, and unload on them as they try to fly away for repairs. Surprise is the most important factor; with stealth armor you are an unknown factor and will not be taken into consideration by the pilot when he chooses an escape vector.

I take down libs all the time with my skyguard top armor and racer 3.

Shitty pilots are easy, the ace ones of course are much rarer.

You get 2 skyguards together and the skies are clear in every direction.

Have they still not figured out the air/ground balance? It always swings so wildly in each direction.

Not everyone would agree, but I think air is in a good place right now. It's still way too hard for new, inexperienced pilots to effectively enter the sky.

Skyguards feel roughly like they're worth 2 double burster maxes. IMO, this is still a tad weak. Not because I hate flyboys with a passion (oh, I do, I so do), but because pulling a skyguard fucks you over for pulling a real lightning for the period after that. Being locked out of what may very well be your faction's only tank for any particular conflict (no tech plants, far from your bubble) should weigh much more in SOE's calculations. Lets not even get into all those bases where you can't even pull skyguards, where you have to go 5 minutes back to pull one, by the time you drive back (assuming you're not picked off because you're a tank driving around alone), the situation probably has changed.

Cause once you've killed or scared all the flyboys away, they'll all just hop in tanks and come back. You may as well decon your own skyguard at that point, your contribution falls to somewhere between fuck all and "feeding the enemy exp" at that point.

The solution to that? *shrug* maybe make skyguard's DPS vs non-air targets equal to the default gun, minus a few percent. Or the better solution would be to put in "reconfigure terminals" on rearm towers, so you can switch your vehicle loadout around, just like infantry and maxes can at loadout terminals..

Hah I hate flyboys too, my ESF is usually only pulled to fuck over Liberators (A2A loadout) but with radar to help the ground out if the air is clear.

Not sure I agree with you on the Skyguard = to 2 Burster maxes. If I can surprise air (and gamble with full Max Lockdown), it probably out DPSs Skyguards at anything beyond 50m. Again I'll have to test this out in the VR training or something, but it just feels faster than my skyguard.

I feel like this game is dying. Three months ago there were fights going on across all maps on each server I had chars on, now there is one fight on one map per server with 15% pop differences. I hope they have something up their sleeves to pull it back out of it's slump.

I just logged out there was like 10 people playing it seemed. Nothing going on anywhere really.

Usually prime time on Mattherson its still pretty hopping, especially alert time. As for the AA, I love my double burster max. Usually if there is a ton of air, you will see 2-4 AA burster maxes chase them away when we play. You dont necessarily need to destroy them, just make it annoying enough so they fly the fuck away.

What are people playing on PS4? Did PS2 release there finally? I seriously don't know of a single game worth playing on the PS4 - much less one that's a MMO.

No but when it does, that is all SOE will focus on since that will make millions just like Warframe the only real FTP game on PS4 is doing now. It will be playable at SOE live so I will check it out in August.

p.s. Are you still in Recursion? There is going to be a miller vs connery top 3 outfits 48 man I believe next week. FC and Recursion vs INI and MCYS.

I find myself playing more and more, i really suck, but its really fun! The tug of war at times is so damned fun! its like they almost got your area, then you somehow get a push and take theirs or vice versa. Good shit.
Some friends and I played last night. Was good times. We died a lot and had it handed to us in Indar (sp?) but we still had a great time. Much more enjoyable than I anticipated not to mention extremely easy to get around and into the action.
