My fiance works at the USPS. She said they've been seeing a lot more Amazon stuff lately (pallets) and she's been told that they're going to start doing same-day delivery if the offices are able to handle it. I think they were going to hire more employees just for this. Could just be the USPS rumor mill going though.

The same day delivery thing is why UPS began charging tax in the first place. Various government groups (New York specifically), were annoyed that Amazon came in at such a better price AND they didn't require sales tax. So they threw a fit and were going to ban Amazon from delivering to NY. Amazon decided to buckle to their wishes and instituted sales tax to any state that asked for it. To combat their now charging sales tax, they've begun working on a "same day delivery" option to really compete against brick and mortar stores. It'll happen, but it might take a bit. I don't think using courier services is cost effective, so if UPS ups their game shit could really work out well.

Rule of thumb for most of the shipments that I've seen from UPS/FedEx is that over $250 it's required regardless of what the shipping company requested. Will be the first time going this high with Amazon personally though.

Not that it matters for me fortunately - wife and I have schedules open enough we'll just slack when tracking pops for it to be due.
I ordered my Weber grill from amazon for $550. Delivered via UPS. No signature required but the UPS guy was smart/nice enough to bring it back and put it on my back patio instead of leaving it on the front porch.

90% of the time I order something from Amazon that is shipped via USPS, they miss the 2 day prime shipping window. The post office always gets it by the second day but they almost never deliver it that day. A couple times the mailman came back later in the evening with the package so that was great.

I used to get stuff delivered on a Saturday by a guy in a mini-van with some express delivery service sticker on his door... since I've moved out of Chicago and into the suburbs, this never happens anymore. Anything ordered later in the day Thursday or any time on Friday will come on Monday.

FedEx can suck my dick though. Those guys are so fucking lazy they won't even bring packages to my porch, they just leave them in front of my garage door. Really glad Amazon uses UPS exclusively or else exclusively where I live.

Yeah we used to get Fedex until the guy left a package of electrical components for my senior project on the front lawn.. in the pouring rain.. with no bag over the box. Faggots

Yeah it was raining when he left those boxes in front of our garage. Our neighbor asked him what he was doing since it was raining and he goes, "it'll be fine, don't worry about it"

I've been a Prime member for a couple of years and they have never screwed up a delivery in all the time. I buy a ton of shit from Amazon too, so it's all the more impressive to me. Well worth the 80 bucks a year.

Yep, all my orders have been great, and with a distribution center in New Berlin Wisconsin and somewhere near Indianapolis, I probably get 75% of my prime stuff the next day. My only issue has been with the few smaller items that they seem to ship via USPS that I usually don't get within 2 days.

Sounds believable to me - the USPS needs to expand it's model some to thrive again - and that would be a great opportunity for the USPS if they can step up their game.

Just hopefully they can do it up to the current standards we expect of Amazon shipping.

that guy in the ad is a real asshole, living in a shitty abandoned garage having spent all his money on a LED TV and PS4 (and buying games online at MSRP when his illegal immigrant drug dealer friend asks him to) and creeping on the starbucks barrista who gives him a free muffin every now and then

Kind of same, i think UPS lady is here twice a week and ive only had 1 or 2 shipments a day late w/ my prime 2 day free ship. Not sure why, but Amazon is like some type of addiction now since i know they ship for free. I'm glad most of my shipments come via UPS, since i pretty much hate everything about FedEx.
