There's only really two kinds of people who still care about EQ: people who grew up and have lives but maintain some nostalgia for the glory days, and people who sacrificed their lives for EQ back when it was relevant and simply never moved on. The latter group consists of depressed, mentally unhealthy individuals who lived and breathed a game for so long that they couldn't get back out of it when its time had come. They're desperately trying to seem impressive and accomplished, claiming to be untouchable gods of Everquest while simultaneously making incredible amounts of money in ways that conveniently never require proof of any form of education or social skills. They're ashamed of their situation, being losers who have wasted their lives on nothing, so they try to overcompensate by being forum warriors and liars who accuse everybody else of being the losers that they themselves are. It's a sad thing, really.
Ten years from now, there'll be a few hundred thousand more of them who are the exact same except their crazed obsession is WoW. I think this will be the end of gaming forums as we know them. Imagine a hundred thousand Lumies rampaging through every forum that will tolerate their insane rantings, leaving only ruins behind.
