We have plenty of laws in place to punish said people and prevent them from doing more horrible shit.

So you think it is OK for a teenager to be thrown in jail for making a joke on Facebook about an event or a country? Or for fat asses we decry skinny people are privileged while ignoring the fact millions of children die of starvation every year? Everyone needs to get a better perspective, even those who want to spew random bullshit and not fear overly harsh repercussions.

Swagdaddy changed the conversation when he made the out-of-the-blue ridiculous claim that racism was somehow a taboo topic here, punctuating that claim with intentionally offensive language used for "shock value". If we're to stay on topic, maybe he should stop race-baiting.

Otherwise, we pretty much agree that forcing a deaf kid to change his name so he doesn't scare anyone with his gun-hands is pretty fucking ridiculous. So is holding a kid in jail for a Facebook comment that included "lol" and "jk", literally making it impossible to interpret the comment as anything other than a joke.

We're so overcome by fear (fear of being attacked, fear of offending someone, fear of responsibility) that we've lost our ability to act rationally. It's been shown time and time again that zero-tolerance policies don't work because they remove human judgement from the equation. If we want to keep an eye out for people making dangerous-sounding comments on social media, that's fine. But we can't just use a checklist of red-flag words to determine whether somebody is dangerous or not. It's ironic how North America is more proud of its freedoms than anything else, and yet we keep compromising them in the name of "safety". Crazy people are gonna do crazy shit, and no amount of police state overreacting is going to make us all safe all the time.

We don't have laws in place to deal with people from barbaric cultures. In the 90s a gang of immigrant muslims got off easy after raping a woman because the court couldn't prove intent. Their view on women was so appalling they didn't understand you can't rape western women. More recently an HIV infected immigrant who had sex with a bunch of women claimed his "level of AIDS" was so low he was certain he couldn't transmit the disease to anyone. It went all the way to the surpreme court that decided that he couldn't be held accountable for his actions. The result of this was the surpreme court making an overhaul of the intent assessments more suitable for Arabs and Africans. They called the new intent form, intent of indifference. (I would be laughing, but...)

It was stated in a report from the 90s that one out of three northern Africans immigrants had been convicted of a crime in a five year period. Considering the female underpresentation the numbers for males were probably closer to 50%. How can anyone honestly say that knowing this you'll treat a person from Northern Africa the same way you'd treat anyone? The result of this report was that you are never again allowed to collect statistical data based on ethnicity. That's why fanaskins newer data suggests only a four time overrepresentation of immigrants in rape. Included in that data are a lot of Americans, Norweigans and Finns among other western countries, not to mention eastern Asians. The per capita numbers of reported rapes in Sweden are the second highest in the world, after Lesotho.

The fact is that very few know about the above as it's not reported in the media. That's why unsuspecting women get raped every day by Muslims and Africans. So yes, you are better off hating immigrants before they commit a crime. Otherwise you might end up like my cousin, raped and badly beaten by an Arab, then forced to relocate because of death threats from the family of the rapist.

That a kid was convicted for making a Somali joke didn't really surprise me because we always had a group of very influential liberals (marxists, socialists, whatever you call yourself this decade), but I always held the US in higher regard because America never had many of those in charge. Looks to me that the US are getting closer and closer to insanity for some reason these days.

From what I understand, ignorance of the law never, ever means exemption from the law (even for immigrants), so I don't understand your whole first paragraph. How do you rape someone without intent? In any case, without knowing more about those cases it sounds like the legal system made some pretty terrible decisions there, ones I can neither understand nor justify. In fact, changing laws to accommodate foreigners is pretty racist. Sounds like this is a problem that could be fixed by pulling racismoutof the system, not adding more.

Your second paragraph is also criminally light on context. For the sake of argument, I'll take you on your word. I'm in a room with 30 male Northern African immigrants (let's say I'm teaching them English or something). According to your stats, 15 of them have been convicted of a crime within the last 5 years. What crimes? Rape? Murder? Bike theft? Parking violations? I don't know. The other half have never been convicted of anything. What do I have to gain by assuming they all pose a threat to me, except the reinforcing of negative stereotypes that tend to perpetuate themselves in a vicious cycle? Besides, if the problem is cultural, wouldn't it be beneficial (for everyone) to aid in their assimilation to the best of our ability instead of treating them like ticking time bombs just waiting to go off?

You're right, the media does a terrible job of giving us the information we need. Let's blame the media for that. And yes, let's blame every immigrant who's ever committed a crime for the crime they have committed. I'm not trying to shift responsibility here. But if certain groups are more likely to commit certain crimes, there's a reason behind that. Addressing that reason is not only the best way to try to prevent these crimes, it's pretty much the only way. What you don't get is that hating people before they commit a crime actually increases the odds that they will commit that crime. You're part of the problem as long as you consider a group of people "the bad guys".

At least we can both agree that the USA is going crazy.
