If he was too scary then their "girl power" tone would be even less believable!

Watched the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven. I thought it was a lot better than the theatrical cut. Poor Orlando Bloom, he had a promising career. As far as one of those history epic movies go I'd give it a 7.5/10
It is indeed a ton better than the theatrical cut. I like this movie. The directors cut anyway.

Yeah the director's cut is a really good watch. It's not the greatest thing ever, but it really works.

So I Married an Axe Murderer - 9/10 - I haven't watched this in like 10 years and could still quote like 60% of it. This is easily my favorite Mike Meyers movie. Plus it had a hot young Nancy Travis.

Blood Quantum -8/10 . Somewhat new take on the zombie genre set on a reservation. The human drama really made this for me. Its on Shudder and well worth watching.

The Incident - Subtitled Mexican thriller about some sort of relay-race Limbo. Was actually pretty well done and I actually stayed up past my bedtime to finish it. The kids and Mom were the worst actors ever but the rest was not bad. Maybe 6/10 overall but worth a watch if you can get into it.

Watched Fresh Meat on Amazon Prime today. I would say 6/10. It was fun. Just the right amount of humor. Lots of lipstick lesbianism stuff.

That means it's good? Sounds pretty fucky.
It was pretty meh I thought.

On another note a bad ass crime noir is on Amazon Prime. A Bittersweet Life - 9/10 Must see Stormshadow fucking people up before he was Stormshadow.

Watched Charlie Bartlett on Prime. Solid cast including a young Kat Denning and Robert Downey Jr. Not great, not terrible. A solid 7 or 7.5

I enjoyed this very much. Is crime noir this genre, or maybe this is specific to Korean crime noir? That was always more along the lines of Raymond Chandler and Double Indemnity, etc. Which isn’t to say this wasn’t good or anything, it was great. Just wasn’t expecting a more action John Woo Hard Boiled Chow Yun-fat movie.

Well noir is a style of movie that was named in the US. Its usually detective style movies here but its not required. Its one where something terrible often happens to the protagonist and and has cynicism, fatalism, and moral ambiguity. Which i think fits this movie to a T, but i understand thinking it would be something more conventional based upon the description.

Streaming on Prime, it's an Italian low budget Mad Max: The Road Warrior rip off and if you like low budget post-apocalyptic movies from the 70's and 80's I highly recommend it. Warning, I really like bad low budget post-apocalyptic and swords and sandal/sorcery movies from the 70's/80's so caveat emptor.

I feel ya, man. Sometimes you just feel like whipping out your tri-bladed sword and asking "Who dies first?"

So I watched Starship Troopers when it came out in theaters but I was also a pussy ass bitch kid and had my eyes closed for like 90% of it probably so I never really truly watched it until now. A+ movie and glad I finally gave it a real watch. Doesn’t hold up to badly production wise for ‘97 either.

Also got around to watching OG Total Recall. Also enjoyable as hell. Been nice hitting up all these older films I missed.

Saw Boarderlands in a thread and it reminded me. I watched a movie recently called Final Prayer that was released as The Boarderlands in the UK.

Anyways, for those lovecrathian fans out there, this was a good flick.

Final Prayer (2013) , free on Tubi

Also watched "Never Going Back" (2018). A24 studios and its pretty funny. Gave me some flashbacks of late teens/early 20s and having to deal with roommates.

A few weeks back, I was in an odd mood. Felt like a good time to watch a low budget 70's horror / Jaws rip off.

Piranha ( 1978 ) : Piranha (1978 film) - Wikipedia

It was directed by Joe Dante and had a brief character played by Dick Miller. I enjoyed it, laughing at it at times. It did have some odd moments that felt off, things that would never happen in a film today, the best example was a bunch of pre-teen summer camp kids getting violently attacked by the swarm of piranha.

Also a side odd thing was at one stage early there was a walking piranha in the secret lab. It was out of the water, sneaking around and hiding from the protagonists, I'm thinking - at the end - Oh these things are going to get up out of the water and chase all the panicking people . . . . nope it was just a one off, that ability never seen again. BUT the stop motion animation was actually quite good, watching the credits, I see it was done by Phil Tippett.

Yeah, but does Jerry O'Connell get his dick bit off?
