agree on this one and I'd give it the same rating. Taika Waititi makes some good movies. Check out Boy if you liked this one, has a similar vibe although it's built less as a comedy. He does a great job of turning something tragic into something really pretty to watch. He had a couple moments in this one where he was channeling Wes Anderson but it didn't feel overly opportunistic in the scenes where he "borrowed" some shots and they fit into the tone and pace really well, unlike...Hunt for the Wilderpeople - 8/10
Watched this with some friends last night and we all thought it was pretty funny. Same writer/director as What We Do In The Shadows and the upcoming Thor movie. I love this guy and will watch anything he makes.

Rob Zombie is bad at this and he should feel bad. IMDB write-up had some grandiose underlying plot that seems like it would have added a lot to what this ended up being. Torture porn but without the entertainment factor that The Devil's Rejects brought out of his House of 1000 Corpses story chain. This feels unfinished, pacing is all over the place and it probably could have been saved with a huge tone shift by having his wife not keep playing the same role over and over again. I was hesitant but excited to see this one as I was underwhelmed but really surprised by Lords of Salem and really thought he was going to start heading a different direction and do some Kubrickesque horror in the future. This one, right back to not as good as square one and he pulled out a crane + rotation, downward shot in that one for absolutely no reason.
Green Room - 8/10
This guy definitely has a style and he's been completely on point with his last two films. They straddle the line between revenge flick and crime drama and he does both aspects incredibly well. Only reason this is 8/10 is because it missed a few steps that Blue Ruin got perfect but it's still an amazing film
