Finally got around to watching X-Men Apocalypse. 5/10 and I'm being nice. I liked the new characters for the most part even if they introduced too many to give them all appropriate amounts of screen time, but good god I just can not take Jennifer Lawrence seriously in this role. Apocalypse himself was a complete waste and wasn't a fan of Psylocke (because Olivia Munn is terribad) and Angel, but otherwise the newly introduced characters were actually good. Was odd to hear Sophie Turner with an American accent afetr so many years of GoT, but it nicely counterbalanced by Michael Fassbender actually being German and making those parts a lot more believable. My biggest gripe though -- end of the movie and Erik is still walking around free after nearly destroying the world. Sigh, whatever. Plot was rushed as hell, the four horsemen were a complete disappointment, and Apocalypse himself sucked. The 5/10 is pretty much purely because of the new characters being well done.

I really don't like this movie. I feel like it was written by jocks. Then you meet the director/writer and realize it was written by jocks.

Hmm, since I don't have anything against people who are good at and play sports I do not have a problem with still thinking that's a great movie.

Did I say Jocks? I think I meant written, directed, and enjoyed by douchebags.

DBZ: Broly- The Legendary Super Saiyan

3/5 doesn't really hold up. Krillin does sing and Trunks has the Black undershirt outfit that is pretty cool.

I just saw Dan Brown (author of The Da Vinci Code)'s latest movie, Inferno. It was entertaining enough, but it wasn't a very good movie. I would rate it as either a 4.5-5.5 out of 10. It wasn't as bad as a 4, but it wasn't as good as a 6 either. It starts off incredibly trippy. You have no idea what's going on or why. Then it continues on that theme for a long time before it's finally explained at the 2/3rd mark. Then it's a race to the end to stop the bad guys. I mean, it is what it is. I just liked TDVC a lot more than this. Hell, even Angels & Demons was better. Oh well.

star trek beyond 7/10. I would rate the 2009 reboot as also 7/10 and into darkness as 4/10. Beyond was ok, first half was pretty good with a cool bad guy setup and then it just kinda got shittier after the halfway mark with plot holes big enough to drive the enterprise through. It continues the reboot tradition of being an action movie above all else, so if you hate that you will hate this movie too, its even more action-y than the previous two.

The federation space station was awesome, very mass effect-y and glad to see trek starting to abandon the idea it has to stick to 70s ideas of tech. Spock sucked as always, some really weird homages to the original cast that keep feeling out of place and pointless. Anyways, worth a watch if you are a Trek fan but doesn't really hold up that well compared to the best of TNG or DS9, I'd never rewatch any of the new trek movies a second time.

My girlfriend has been hounding me to watch Crash because she said it was great. I knew nothing about it and it finally came onto Netflix streaming so we watched it.

What a steaming pile of shit. 4/10.
I think Crash is widely regarded as the worst movie to ever win a best picture Oscar.

@Khane Assuming your girlfriend meant the Paul Haggis film of 2004, you should watch the David Cronenberg film of 1996 and start a very strange conversation with her (the Cronenberg film is an adaptation of a Ballard novel about a group of people who have a sexual fetish around car crashes).

EDIT: Oh and watched two strange films today: A soviet version of Robinson Crusoe filmed in 3D in the late '40s and the most profitable 3D film ever: The Stewardesses, a mainstreamized softporn flick made in 1969 (and later, because it was re-shot and re-edited multiple times) about the more or less festive night of a bunch of stewardesses in LA.

Both film were lame, but both were interesting as products of their era and as pieces of film history.

If I said it was written by assholes would you imagine a fleshy pucker holding a pencil?
