Don't know if you can trust these stats but according tothis sitethere are 54 million singles in the U.S. and 49 million have tried online dating.

I have no idea how they could possibly pull that stat because I don't recall ever giving a social security number when signing up for any of those sites, especially the free ones, and anyone can lie about what they're name, address or any other demographic information is.

Rofl only 24% of guys prefer "The Hottie." Sounds like they really got their facts straight. Knowing how a majority of these "studies" are performed Match.com probably sponsored someone to ask 50 people in NYC if they've tried online dating and extrapolated that to the 54 million singles.

Big Data analytics wouldn't make it hard to tell IMO. If not a generally shady way to go about it.

Tinder is probably also preferable if you are trying to stay on the down low, hiding it from a wife/GF. Unlike a site you can't go search and see specific users as easily per se and you can quickly install/uninstall and hide/unhide on the fly. Perfect for out of town on business!

I don't know man, the larger the user base the more likely you are to get caught if you ask me because theoretically more of your wife's friends/acquaintances would use it and potentially get matched to you. Though that whole out of town thing is true.

Not familiar with that rule, please enlighten me. I assume it was something that was passed around on facebook last week.

Lol some married friends emails showed up on the various Ashley Madison leak sites out today with all the username/email info.
If their wives/husbands are smart enough to google and look, I see some rough waters ahead for those people.

I don't have a facebook either. It makes a lot of them mistrust me. They don't say it, but you can tell. It's like saying you don't have indoor plumbing or something. There is an unguarded moment in their face where they're obviously thinking, "Does not compute. Does not compute."

But that's good is the way I think of it. I don't want some dumbshit facebook girl. I do wish them the best. They will find their perfect dumbshit facebook dude and the two of them can pretend like they're back in high school for a little while longer.

I gotta say the dating sites around raleigh are rough, bro's. One of the very real downsides to livin in Mayberry. But oh well, the cotton is high and the livin is easy.

Completely off topic: I stopped using Facebook about 2 years ago. (I can't stand my feed; what it represents and moreover the company itself). But after talking through the reasons of why I stopped using it with a friend I had an epiphany. I would like to see if anyone else on here concurs or had the same thought.

I would use Facebook if there was a "dislike" button.

I'll leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions from that, but I wonder if anyone else would use it if they had a choice of like or dislike.

Where can you get that data dump? I wanna see if anyone from work was on the list. I found a couple sites that will let you search for an email, but I know I had a profile and I can't find any of my email addresses listed, which makes me think those sites are bullshit.

This day and age, I honestly don't know why people, especially tech people I work with, find it "cool" to not have facebook. Even a mocked up one just to show a positive net-profile. All employers, anything you buy in person. They will facebook you immediately. Helps with a lot of things to just have one. Even if you don't use it.

Fuck knows I don't really post shit to facebook. But I do have one.

Because they WILL facebook you immediately.

That's bullshit. It's just straight bullshit. Just by playing that game you lose.

I don't really think it's the thing the cool kids do. It is a sincere social statement to abstain from that sort of asshatery.

If I'm not on call I also tell them to fuck right on off if they're big enough assholes to try to call me.

There are boundaries. Observe them. That's what not having a facebook means.

I lose some game by having a facebook? The whole concept of "maintaining a positive net presence" is pretty well documented dude. Call it bullshit all you want.

I prefer having no presence on the internet under my RL name. After observing some of my younger family members and how they are physically attached to that site I want no part of it.

Yeah, it is bullshit because it's intrusive. It is absolutely intrusive.

It is not intrusive when your buddies are on your facebook page. That's what it's there for. When your WORK is checking out your facebook page, it is.

"You lose that game just by playing it" is what we call an idiom. It means "there is no way to do this right". Did you think I was talking about tower defense or something? Cause those can be fun little games, and they are also designed for you to eventually lose. But one is just an idiom and one is an actual game.
