I've taken inspiration from Tuco and I'm building a donut shaped base.
I didn't build it for this, but after building it and observing colonist behavior I think there are fundamental advantages to embracing diagonal pathways that you naturally get with circular bases. As in, I think colonists walk faster on diagonals? Or they prefer them because of A* or pathfinding limitations and diagonal objectives simply result in faster movement.I've taken inspiration from Tuco and I'm building a donut shaped base.
What the hell is this corner invading your circle
That happened one time for me in my playthrough and it was glorious. I wish (or wonder if?) it was something you could strategically trigger. I know you can call for friendly reinforcements but then I feel bad about letting them die while my bionic superhumans are unscathed.
It got even worse. One of my Alliance crumbled and they instantly attacked... Right into the carnage. Then a trader caravan. Then I just wanted luls and summoned my atomizer part threat. In my endgame i found it more fun to muster my army of immortal super humans and fight them with a max dps, revolutionary war style firing line.I once built a maze that raids had to go thru to get into my base. It was funny at first but I got to the point where you just want to kill them and get on with it
