I guess this is just an Ai Gen trailer, but hoping it's only a matter of time before somebody uses ai to make this real. Non woke, long form silnarillion is the dream...

Officially renewed for a season 3. Filming begins this spring. Bummer. You can tell they are gonna load it with memberberries to try and bring people to watch it by doing a time jump.

Tell me you've destroyed all semblance of good storytelling without telling me; let's make the #1 talking point "jumping forward in time".

And what does that even mean when they've combined plotlines that aren't even supposed to be in the same age/millennia and use characters that are immortal?

It means exactly what it says. Season 2 ended with the fall of Eregion and Sauron having just finished learning how to craft Rings of Power with his own blood/corruption infused into them, through Celebrimbor. The dwarves only recently got rings and very few suspect there's something wrong with them. Sauron was followed by a small army of orc survivors after the battle. Season 3 could have started right after that, but instead they'll skip a few years so Sauron has probably gathered a lot more followers and is more deeply entrenched in Mordor, the dwarf-lords are more subtly corrupted by their rings and don't get involved in the Last Alliance, etc... I mean there's a ton of reasons to criticize this show but really skipping a few years ahead between seasons isn't one I'd have chosen.

I wasn't criticizing a TV show skipping years between seasons. If that makes a show work then no problems.

I was commenting on taking a story that is merging plots that are 2000+ years apart in the source material and then saying "we've skipped years" to sell the next season. You skipped a thousand years just between scenes so if that's the best you have to sell a new season it's pretty sad.

Would watch a 10 hour AI generated Silmarillion movie over the trash that is ROP

I hope we get to see Peter Jackson or someone from his crew get the rights to first age content at some point

That looked pretty badass. Would love to watch that show/movie. Hell it had Henry Cavill in it.

No idea why you think skipping a few years is some huge thing that's supposed to make people think the show is suddenly not shitty anymore.

It's the Sauron vs Elf war that's the selling point. And if it's anywhere close to the hilarity of the Eregion battle, then I am all in

No idea why people who hate a show can't just stop watching it instead of apparently suffering through episode after episode and then taking to the internet to try to convince people who do like it that they are wrong. Seems like they are intentionally making themselves miserable in order to try to spread their misery to random strangers.
