The Warriors is the only 70s movie you need to see. Still one of the best movies of all time.
You might remember it that way but the 80s was the start of home video. There was a literal explosion of small budget direct to video movies.the 70s was more about cerebral films, shit that made you think. scary movies were much scarier that way, they had to make up for low budgets. the 80s was a lot of blockbusters with more focus on big effects and grand events. less focus on subtle nuance. I'm not saying one is better, but each era is definitely different than the other.
ok, but which ones of those are in pop culture and are part of setting the theme of an era? where is the Star Wars of "direct to video" releases? the only direct to video i can remember from the 80s was an old porn called "The X-Terminator" i watched it many many many times for some unknown reason. You might remember it that way but the 80s was the start of home video. i love Boris's work. surprised they could afford him to do the box art for those low budget films.looked into this once and it was really hard to find much info as there was only a few that were direct to video only as most also having some type of limited theater run. some would come out on vid and be popular and then go to theaters/drive-ins.
don't think there were any D2V movies of note in the 80's. most just had great box art lol

anyway, was looking at lists of top D2V movies pre streaming, and Boondock Saints was considered the most influential
I remember watching this back then and enjoying it but I was less of a LOTR fan and more of a D&D fan.
