Even the CGI looks like shit, at least the Robocop centric CGI. When he jumps off the building, it looks like something you'd see on network TV.

What made the first movie good was the twisted parts of Murphy's death and revival as Robocop. He was dead, everyone thought he was dead, and life went on without him. Then everything just gets put out there as one big Frankenstein situation.

Oof. Not to jump on the bandwagon, but based on that trailer I don't think Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton can save this one. Perhaps if half the movie is Gary Oldman reading a phone book, then it might have a chance. I'd like to be wrong. Then again, with a $100,000,000 budget, it may go full Transformers and be profitable while being bad.

I'm fucking baffled. Who thought rebooting Robocop as a PG-13 movie was a good idea. ROBOCOP, the movie where the hero's origin story is he gets blasted by a gang of dudes with shotguns from 5 feet away and put into a robot suit. ROBOCOP, the movie where the villains are so hilariously corrupt/evil it defies logical behavior on all levels.

I honestly have no problem with the concept of remaking robocop with modern CGI, hell that actually sounds cool. But sacrificing the soul of the movie for CGI? Fuck no. I don't usually come into these threads just to gripe, and I simply avoided the Red Dawn/Total Recall threads, but you have to draw a line somewhere. Shitting on Robocop, for fucking shame.

It might be rated R. I was guessing by the trailer that it looks like it will be pg13. Its so clean and generic, a pg 13 fits it to a t.

not a fan of what I see.

however, the pg12 vs R is not a big deal, imho.
ratings have progressed. Robocops original R would be pg-13 by todays standards. culture of violence and all.

There's no way. The MPAA would balk at scenes like the exec getting machine gunned by Ed for twenty straight seconds, the no-cutaway hideously violent death of a police officer complete with execution style shot to the head, and the snorting of cocaine from between a hooker's breasts.
