You know, this is not such a crazy idea. Rebooting iconic movies is a terrible idea because they are never going to be as good as the source material, but shitty cheesy movies of the 80s and beyond redone with modern special effects is something I would pay money to see. To name a few:

Meteor Man
Swamp Thing
The Golden Child
Batteries Not Included
Legend
The Ice Pirates
The Navigator

The whole movie was an awesome non stop thrill ride.

Surprisingly, the sequel was just as good

if you guys really want ninja action, just go watch gijoe 2, the scenes with the red ninja fodder are some of the best i've seen, lee byung hun makes a great storm shadow and i didn't mind jinx, of course the only flaw is fucking darth maul (snake eyes)

the suit


half way in when you see peter weller move, he still looks like old man robocop!

it sounds like the way the suit was intended, it was supposed to be smooth and liquid, but without that we wouldn't have the iconic way robocop moves. Everyone tries to copy peter weller, no one can be spot on (movie 3 and a bunch of tv shows), i liken it to michael jackson impersonators, they can get the hair and manerisms right, but they'll never look perfect.

i just don't have faith in remakes, that's also cuz i've probably watched robocop 100x, which is not an exaggeration for a child of the 80's that didn't have the internet, had a few vhs movies and only had 2 or 3 nes games (and would travel to friends house to play sega). i don't think i've watched a movie more than 3x since the invention of DVD's (i don't count commentary).

Basic Instinct 2 was shit,
Starship Troopers 2 and 3 were shit.

yeah an old man robocop would be pretty fucking tight. but studios dont take conscious risks anymore. they still take risks because the studio heads are out of touch morons and dont know what people want to see, but they dont allow a franchise to take a risk by casting an old man to play a superhero. its all about the young beautiful person with the young beautiful person love interest and the cheap CGI and no practical effects or location shootings, create a generic PC story and call it done.
would love to see old man superman, batman and now a robocop. who fucking cares if it doesnt cater to younger audiences. us old farts love us some retro and we love our iconic actors.

and before anyone says, what about old man Indiana Jones? that sucked!
and yes the movie sucked, but it wasnt harrison ford's fault. Lucas fucked him in the buttocks

man pg13 robocop does make me sad face.

I remember i was 7 when robocop came out, at that time robotech was also out, from the commercials ed-209 looked just like a valkyrie in gerwalk mode. Hell i thought ed-209 was the hero, my sister decided to take me to see robocop, i have no idea why, pretty sure that was one of the few movies i did see, she let me watch everything, except when the radioactive guy got hit by the car. then i got the movie on vhs and watched it like 100x (we didn't have internet!). I was 10 when robocop 2 came out and mom took me to see it. At that time in our lives "Just Say No" was really going strong, i was like, "drugs are bad robo doesn't like drugs".

Then at 13 in 1993, coming home on the train, i saw a poster for robocop3, he looked funny (this was him with the machine gun arm and backpack), but then this i can remember this is the first time i turned emo before it was a term... i saw PG-13 in the corner.

It's not like i want blood guts and gore, i just believe it restricts the director into making an action flick into something goody goody and pretty much shit. We saw this with the recent die hard, and probably countless others.

have you not seen any robocop movies? detroit in the original was broke and OCP took over their police force and soon to be the whole city. OCP can afford a robocop, because it helps OCP get rid of the scum. their ultimate goal was to move all the poor people out and move in rich people.
