Time Warner just upped me from 50/5 to 200/5 for the same $75/mo. I get the notice in the mail 2 weeks after Google Fiber starts official installs in my city. Lol. Will be nice for the time being until Google gets to my house later this year.

Cox in Phoenix, for $100/ month gets you on their Ultimate tier, which is 150/30. Cool thing is, they just upped the data caps, which are fairly pointless, but still nice, from 450gb to 2000gb per month. My brother in law, who's paranoid about staying under the caps, and has 2 boys that stream youtube and netflix all day long, was extremely happy. lol

Nice, didn't notice they'd upgraded, we've got the same thing here in Vegas now. Can go from Premiere ($78) to Ultimate for $5 for the first 6 months it looks like. Just not sure I really need it, had been meaning to just trim it back to lower tiers since they keep doubling bandwidth over and over. Only hitting the 700gb data nag barrier the last week of the service month because of my new PC downloading stuff.

Edit: oof. Wonder if this is a test for a system-wide thing, or the rest of that has yet to leak/break.

I'd honestly be surprised if it ever goes into effect. There is such negative consumer feedback associated with taking something that is unlimited and putting a cap and overages on it that I can't see it working. It only worked in the mobile space because the data usage was so low when they were put in place and even then Tmobile is making a killing by taking people sick of Verizon and AT&T's bullshit. Consumers have been used to uncapped internet for far too long to make it profitable for Cox to make the move. They just aren't a big enough player on their own. Fuck, if TWC wasn't able to push it through I can't see how Cox could.

So what you're saying is that Comcast is pissing on us and TWC is shitting on us, so the courts only role is to make sure no one entity is both pissing and shitting on everyone because it has to be a team effort.

Pretty much. With the reclassification of broadband by the FCC to 25mbps or greater, a merger of Comcast and Time Warner would have given control of more than 80% of the nations broadband, which is one reason the FCC was against the Comcast/TWC merger.
Some good news for TWC customers, Charter has no bandwidth caps in place.

With the reclassification of broadband, I pay TWC $55 a month for non broadband speeds (20 down, 10 up), and TWC's turbo tier is the only broadband available where I live. Who the fuck do we have to bribe to get some competition?
