Yeah but 75 MB is practically dial up these days!

For another $20 I can go to 150 MB, but they want to send someone to wire something inside my house. Don't want to have to sit around for some 6 hour window for the cable guy, though I'll probably do it eventually

Most of the terminals that ISPs use won't do over 90 MB via coaxial cable. When I changed my Verizon from 75 to above that they had to install an ethernet line that could handle up to a gig from the ONT to my router location. I have them for TV as well so both cables are connected to the router.

You have a hard time believing there are 2 providers when most areas only have one?

StarLink has opened up for beta testing now: Starlink

Starlink is set to launch commercially in America and Canada later this year, with planned expansion in 2021 to over the rest of the planet.

Right now, the satellites will only serve geographic areas located in “higher latitudes” such as Seattle and London, before coverage spreads closer to the equator.

SpaceX will apparently provide download speeds reaching 1Gbps, with a latency ranging between 25 to 35 milliseconds. It is currently unknown how much the service will cost.

With satellite internet I’m more worried about caps than speeds.

With 1 gbps speeds, I think the caps will be plentiful. Plus, its Musk so I doube he's going to nickel and dime people for cap limits

Jesus Christ that website. I think some of these newspaper websites are getting to the point where I feel nostalgic for the websites that would suddenly open 50 pornographic ads.

Also I will suck dick or commit murder to get into the Starlink beta.

I am experiencing a weird news channel related issue, where it periodically stutters for a second but then continues on. No tiling or static, no problems with any other channel. Would this be a problem with the feed in my area or something incredibly specific with my hardware?

Happens on all TVs in the house, and the most unused one was lagging two minutes behind the live feed on other TVs cause it accumulated enough stutters.

Just got my Starlink beta invite. $499 for the modem/router, and then $99 a month for speeds between 50-150. I already get gig internet right now through Comcast, and so I won't be signing up but there are plenty of people around me in my small town that only have satellite options and this is amazing for them.

Pacific Northwest (Washington). They said with the beta that the Northern parts of the United States would be who got invites first because of the satellite coverage area.

Yeah, I'm in Montana so I hoped that was going to include me. Most of the beta people I've heard about are in Washington state though.

Best part of StarLink is them telling the FCC that ViaSat can go get fucked hahaha.

And the speeds on Starlink will go up more as more and more parts of the constellation go up, I think they are hopping too cover a good chunk of the N hemisphere by end of next summer.

Anyone use centurylink? I can get fiber 940mb up and down for $65 a month. Paying spectrum $69 for 120 down and 5 up.

Was wondering if CenturyLink is good or not

Years ago I was one of the first to get 1gb with Century Link and it never went down in the 3 years I had it. It was fantastic.

Every fiber service, no matter how shitty the company running it is, even CenturyLink, is just superior to any DOCSIS service.

DOCSIS is a shit technology.
