Yeah, definitely split per room which is interesting. The "it's always Christmas" kind of indicated that. I just meant as far as we knew it was kind of a right brain/left brain situation, but now it's more a split personality situation which is interesting. I wonder if they're going to use this to hunt for better versions of themselves. That might be the end game, basically fracture a person who feels they're not a good person until you find the "best" version of them. That is similar to what the dinner with Walken and was discussing.

I think the ultimate end goal is just to be able to sever a person at will and for specific memories and situations on the fly.

Like, you have a dentist appointment at 3 - fuck that, sever into someone new who does the dentist appointment and then you wake up after the appointment with fresh teeth and no memory of the pain.

Have a heavily painful or traumatic event like losing a baby or being in a car wreck? sever it off.

Some pain in the ass task like writing a stack of thank you cards? just get your sever to do it.

if you start to think of the technology as having no side effects and being no big deal, you can kind of see where they want to take it. Very Black Mirror type shit.

Stress testing the current version of the Severance technology. Earlier iterations had breakdowns at high stress levels. Plane turbulence, dentist, Christmas morning passive aggressive husband gift card writing (literal hell), etc. Cold Harbor is going to be the final stress test - reliving her death. If there aren't any personality bleeds we're off to market!

edit - or "it's the evening you miscarried" over and over and over.

My take was that it was much more than 3 ways. I believe she's split per room, but exiting each room bring her back to her.

Thought this episode was good but upon rewatch will be considered great with hindsight.

Also disagree on the take on the relationship, they were in love but having problems with conception which would fuck with any relationship. I think he was deeply in love with her and even more grief stricken that she "died" when they were at a low point.
Yeah seemed like an innie per room/floor to me too. Unlocking the last door probably probably turns her into the kwizatch haderach inside or something.

that sister has to be the dumbest character so far, your brother is near death and you have to keep it a secret, but the first person you want to call is the woman that pretended to be a wet nurse to get close to you and shes so good at it because she pretended to be your brothers bath salt neighbor cuz she was actually his extradimentional boss

I thought that scene was uncharacteristic of her. She's always been the practical one, almost having the audience's presence of mind. The choice to call the psycho Lumon dropout is the worst thing ever, even if I could've seen Cobel having something like a "redemption" arc in the eyes of the audience by being the one to sneak through Lumon to extract Gemma.

The sister acting that way means something is up.

Also The deep voiced guy that I assumed was a Bagman is actually the Harmony Cobel of the Testing Floor. The fact he has keys to Irving's apartment like Cobel had keys to Mark's makes total sense. So the question is what did they do to Irving down there and why does Irving not really remember since it seems pretty clear that Gemma is Gemma on the testing floor till she goes into the rooms. This episode really fucked me with the when is this supposed to take place. Her college office looks like the 50's, and i still havent seen a modern computer anywhere.

Also the Refiners or whatever you call them on the testing floor seemed to be the dopplegangers from the ORTBO.

Also, they aint in the US (but use USD). Or haven't always been. Or this is real alt reality shit. (DOB format and Look under address)

I just thought it as the sister really thought he was going to die and basically Kobel was the only person she knew at Lumon and figured if it was some health thing related to his severance they'd be able to save him. A do or die type thing.

I've been having this convo with my wife since all the cars in the Lumon lot are straight out of the 80's. The entire town is strange, its like an alternate reality, and its completly cut off from the rest of the world. You would think its the 80's but you have scenes like this

completely unexpected episode, i still don't really know to feel. It didn't feel like anything out of severance before which is pretty stunning for a show like this to pull off, but did it work? No clue, I think I'll rewatch at least episodes 4-10 before I make my mind up on the season. 3 episodes left this season, this and Shogun are the only shows worth watching week to week this past year.

you know the show is cooking with gas though, i was literally leaning forward going into fucking autistic rain man mode trying to read all the room names in the white halls, the last show that made me concentrate so hard was Dark

Visually the show is on a stunning fucking nother level, all those shots where you'd go from one version of Gemma to another was goddamn cinematic mastery

i'm thinking the fertility clinic was one of many lumon funded fronts to collect blood and test for "something special" that obviously gemma has. there was a lot of blood and vials and needles in the episode, from the collection and testing of blood to how they met w/ blood to the testing of blood, to giving the ivf treatments (who knows if they were even ivf treatments, lumon could have substituted a catalyst instead to activate gemmas special blood), even blood security doors.

Episode had so much in it I rewatched it again immediately.
Lots of nice clues to help speculate on what Lumon are trying to achieve, and why Mark and Gemma are special.
It almost doesn't matter though, it's such a great ride. The attention to detail in this show is next level. It's the BG3 of TV shows.

It's definitely not our world. They have more countries than us.

Asked Grok...

"There has never been a universally recognized total of exactly 206 countries in the world based on standard geopolitical definitions, such as those used by the United Nations (UN). As of March 05, 2025, the widely accepted number of countries is 195, comprising 193 UN member states and 2 observer states (the Holy See and Palestine). However, the number 206 is often associated with other contexts, like the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which recognizes 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs)."

There are a dozen or more little territories and things that probably aren't considered full blown countries. 206 is probably accurate in some context.
