I guess I missed the huge falling out -> best friends in one episode.
The TV show I've been watching all season was falling out -> agree to go their separate ways -> fuck ups and minor reconciliations -> common ground is found and they are working together again. This happened over the course of 4 episodes and has happened in every single season so far so I really don't get all this "the show is different now" rhetoric.
The lost interest over the humor not being there this season I can understand. If you don't think it's as funny so far as it has been previously I agree. But anyone saying they changed the formula of the show must not have been watching the first 3 seasons.
Yeah you must not have been paying attention.
Look at Dinesh and Richards relationship this season.
I mean I guess you may have been distracted by his hacker girlfriend subplot which came and went out of nowhere without any semblance of cohesive story or thought behind it, the dumb from that writing may have obfuscated the larger dumb from the Richard + Dinesh fallout. Seriously, sex starved nerd who never even held a girls hand until college is finally knee deep in relatively hot hacker pussy, not like she's some landwhale hambeast or anything (not that that would matter for Dinesh since he's so sex deprived). Guilfoyle concern trolls him into wanting to end it,
only because she was ruin his life if she finds out that his epic takedown of gavin was by incompetence, not intentional. Dinesh is too much of a little bitch to just tell her.
Eventually he is left with no options and confesses to her, and she is totally ok with it, she already knew. At this point Dinesh should be tipping his fedora and M'ladying that bitch til the cows come home, he's set for life now. But the writers forgot that the only reason he was trying to end it was to avoid her finding out, so they continue with the breaking up with her plotline by him calling the FBI? It's like the character knew that the actress playing the girlfriend was only allotted so many episodes and the character knew the writers were going to use this bit later for some epic takedown revenge by said hacker girlfriend, so he just went with it.
Shit writing like that may have blinded you to the even greater shit writing of Richard+Dinesh, but you have to ignore that since it has nothing to do with anything. Follow along:
Dinesh amicably takes over as CEO of PiperChat, spinning off from Pied Piper
Dinesh goes on every tech news circuit talking mad shit about how terrible the old CEO (Richard) was and how he's this breath of fresh air, being a total douchebag shitting all over richard
To complete his transformation into king Douche, Dinesh straight up renegs on Richard and His handshake agreement to share user data
Richard eventually back channels his way in to seeing the user data, much to Dinesh's protest, to discover that Dinesh has completely fucked up
Dinesh admits he lied to cover up his complete incompetence.
Dinesh accidentally completely fucks over Gavin when part of his incompetent shit talking earlier enables Gavin to absorb Piperchat
Richard, alone, partners with Gavin, who has just been fucked over by Dinesh
Dinesh gets tired of looking at dickpics for his new job and just asks Richard if he can work for him and richard is like sure dude no problem
They are not even on speaking terms. And magically they are cool again. Literally at no point do these guys speak to one another. Richard specifically won't work with Dinesh again and says as much when he's trying to get Guilfoyle on board, but then magically they are fine.
This happens before Richard realizes his Partner, Gavin, has left. He's still 50/50 partners with Gavin at the time that he hires Dinesh to come back and work for him and Gavin. Gavin who was just completely ruined by Dinesh.
