Managed to get a totally legit city up to $10M/month income last night. I did it by exporting consumer electronics with an uber efficient supply chain and a low population city. I covered about half the map with it, going to see if I can take it any further, or if it just gets completely bogged down. Wish leaderboards were up right now, would be interested to see where the player-base is at.

During the development of a trade based city you pretty much want to start with the low end parks (I use the medium park with parking as it's the same size as a sky scraper and stick it in a corner of road). This encourages low wealth people to live near it. The high wealth people will pretty much stay away. With the bigger parks too, it will encourage density if you have enough of them spread out -- they have 192 max people that can visit at once.

Once you start making money you can upgrade to the $$ parks of the same size -- I usually use the last one that is selectable and add 2 more of the smaller ones onto it to have the same space total as the medium park w/parking had.

Then when you begin switching to high-tech businesses, after your low tech starts to ween (coal/ore running low), switch to high-wealth parks -- again the last two selectable in the plaza/formal tree fill the same space as a high-rise (it does require a dept. of tourism in the region to get these).

Going in this build progression lets you maintain your export business for a long, long time.

TL;DR: Build more low wealth parks.
Hmm , i never build low wealth parks...well fuck guess thats my problem. For the mid to high i always keep it in the range needed of course. But low wealth it is always all white and zero parks in the area. No wonder my low work force is always fucking up. Obvious i know , but never did bother with the low wealth parks. As for placement , thats what i have been doing with the mid/high. Place them on the edges with one in the middle and works out great. Guess ill start over and have low wealth parks in my city planning , stupid me =(.

Has anyone else had massive problems with people entering your city from the highway? I'm talking perpetual 3 lane traffic jam that goes off the screen.

I think that was part of the reason my petroleum export plan failed. My trucks couldn't get in and out of the city.

What... like Torrented? Or just figured out how to maximize the city population?
It appears to be an actual DRM crack. I'm not sure if it's for real but it is from a group with a good reputation. I'm not to eager to try it just in case. If it is real it makes me smile that it took less than a week to strip the DRM and give the pirates a version that doesn't force them to play russian roulette every time they want to play.

I really can't get over how absolutely terrible this game looks in these shots. Looks like it was made in 2003. Enjoy having a "city" as big as a god damn airport tuco. Must be pretty awesome to have such a vibrant nation of tiny villages separated by vast swaths of unusable space.
Yeah I completely agree with you. I almost didn't buy the game because of the city size, but I'm glad I did because simtown is still fun and there's a lot of novel concepts in it.

Once the figure a way to unfuck the traffic (Ex: Multiple freeway entrances) I think a good city size would be 4x what we have now.

Unrelated: Ideas on city layout.

I get the feeling this game is far more fun to read about than it would be to play. Or try to play, as the case may be.

How to get this game for $27.62 on India's store:

1) Loadhttp://store.origin.com/store/easa/e...en_IE/ccSet.inin browser with no proxy (I'm guessing using a proxy wont hurt here).
2) Proceed to add to cart and checkout.
3) On the registration screen, type in your real address but for the country put India.
4) Use your credit card as per normal.
5) Wait for emails.

I made a new account and it worked for me, although I hear you can use your regular account and get it to work that way, just have to change the country to India.

Not sure defrauding with your real CC and address is a good idea, just to save 30 bucks.

I'm kinda surprised, but I am having quite a bit of fun with it. Was really worried about city size, but it hasn't been a huge issue for me. I would recommend buying it.

The join game feature sucks though. Is there a way to search a game name out or at least filter a search for games that aren't full?

SimCity Update 1.4

This update to SimCity contains the following updates and fixes:

General

. Update to the "select a server" dialog in the game launcher. This will now indicate which servers you have active cities on

Note: At the moment, it is going to be showing the icon for any server you've been to as a player. We'll be updating this soon to show how many regions you have (X/10) per server. We know this is a little confusing for now, but we will improve.

. Fix issue where selection shard did not display when previously selected server is down
. We've fixed a problem where some players were getting stuck when switching shards in the server select menu

Servers

. Opened 1 new server, Antarctica

The hell is this , where is my cheetah fuck faces!

Man the advanced coal mine is a total mess. it can get in the neighborhood of 500 tons of coal a day (or so, i'm not looking at it now). it has a capacity of 80. so at full capacity it fills up in like 10 seconds, then shuts down. It claims to have 10 trucks running, but i've only ever seen two out at once. barring a trade port making a u-turn stuck on a single road with it, i'm not sure how you would empty that (even then if it's possible) and keep up with the rate.

The trade port doesn't seem to have a problem selling it, but again, i'm mystified by how the train works with it. can i ignore trucks and just sell with train? will that work?

Basically whoever made the trade-tree and routing in this game needs to be punched in the face repeatedly with a copy of Dawn of Discovery/anno 1404, anno 2070 etc. anno's ability to link up depots with production in that game would be nice, and it would be uber to have a setting on my trade port that says "keep the port half full of coal, sell the rest" vs what we have now.
