Could I beat this somewhere else... I'm on Verizon, 2 iPhone 5s, 1 dumb phone.

20% discount from my company, so the $80 700 minute plan, with unlimited text. $80 drops down to:

$62.90
$43.97 + $49.98 for "line access" on the iPhones. That includes the $30 data plan. I'm unlimited data, wife is on 4gb data plan. That also includes $10 per line for insurance, which I'm going to cancel since we have the AppleCare warranty from Apple. Oops. Been paying for that, for a long time.

Dumb phone is only $9.99 line access to get added onto the plan.

$183.54 total. I'm going to call today and drop the insurance so basically $160 a month for 3 lines.

I am at 225$ a month for 3 lines all smartphones... I wonder if I can drop the 3rd useless line down to a dumb phone? I doubt it- as it was the line used to get my wife her iphone... 225 after my 18..or 20..or..something odd% discount- its like 20% on the "plan" and 16% off "add ons" - aka data or some shit.. thats 2 line @ unlimited 1 @ 2gb - 1400 min and unlimited text etc. once I drop the 3rd line it will be like 180 or something.

We are on AT&T and just switched to the $140 a month family share plan or whatever it's called.

$140 gets you unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 10GB shared data for 4 phones. We added my brother and sister in law for $10 each so it's $160 a month. Analyzing the data usage over the past 6 months, none of us were even close to 2GB in a month since we are always on Wifi. My dad and I both had grandfathered unlimited data plans and we dropped it in favor of this.

Previously we were paying ~$220 a month for 4 phones, 2 with unlimited data, 1 with 200MB, and 1 with 2GB.

Ya, I guess Verizon is a bit more expensive, and the 20% discount I get on the plan, + my line helps quite a bit, but $160 versus $140? Not worth the hassle, and potential coverage issues.

I thought I was getting raped, like everyone says about Verizon, but not even close. Guess I should be happy.

Sprint Framily for my unit with 4 lines at current is running us $180ish including everything with our phones paid off. ($40/line + $20ish in fees) [Was $240 counting fees pre-framily - $55/line + same fees]

And of course -$20 for each extra member of the Framily down to to $120ish (since the fees don't scale) if/when we find another 3 Framily members. [Which of course would share the $25-35/mo rate per line if they did... wouldn't just be us benefiting by the better rate... hint, hint - if anyone is considering Sprint - 6 spots open at current, 3 more maxes out the rate and last 3 get a nice $25/mo ride... PM for Framily code if you're game...]

Yep, their goofy name - but it's what they call the plan and the "lines" within the plan... It kinda works though. And it's important to distinguish at the beginning since Sprint still does the standard plans as well for $55/mo, much like you went to AT&Ts alternate option, its what Sprint calls theirs.

Vaclav, I haven't forgot about you. Sorry, I've been in meetings almost all week. It's been a giant pain in my ass honestly. I'll take a look at your stuff hopefully tomorrow.

I'm not sure how it could be waterproof, since the clear plastic piece has cutouts where the speaker and camera are. And the cutouts are terribly done, with rough unfinished edges, which is why I figured it was just a prop.

It was something like 450 minutes, unlimited text, and unlimited data. If there is a better option than what I have, they didn't make it obvious. I'm guessing it is something you can offer when helping someone directly, but it isn't on display on their website? If you think you could switch me over, let me know what info you'd need from me and I'll PM it to you.
Check your PM's.

What device is on the 3rd line you used to get the discounted phone? It's hard to adjust things w/o knowing the data usage on Unlimited. There are a lot of discounts I've been able to give people, or at least better options, but the majority of people who have Unlimited in my area are consuming about 2GB or less anyway. I'm guessing the users on this board are pulling 5-10GB or more? I dunno.

No worries, math as I did it more really isn't substantially different vs what we were "promised". I think I figured it out to be $3/mo each line his incorrect information really costs us. Two Framily members more would actually have us ahead. Plus the option to pay it off early is nice.

But saving money never hurts if you see something. Also if you know anywhere to view all the Sprint store M8 colors I'd appreciate it, local store said Gunmetal and Onyx Black but see nothing of the latter online nor validation online. (Think we still prefer Best Buy's Amber Gold, but rather make the decision knowing for sure that it's her preference - I'm just planning to get the other option where ever we go to distinguish)

Has anyone tried Republic Wireless? They have a wifi only calling plan for $5/month. Unlimited everything with 3G is $25, unlimited everything with 4G is $40. I think they use Sprint towers. They offer the Moto X (with Moto Maker) and Moto G for phones.

Doesn't look bad if you can't fill a Framily, but if you're using Sprint towers anyhow more phone options for the same price as 3g for 4g and still unlimited for a 7-10 person Framily. (And at 4 it's identical)

At least for the two top plans, the $5 and $10 plans are interesting and unique though. (Frankly, sounds awesome for people like Deathwing that get shit reception at their house)

Speaking of data prices... The car I'm looking at buying.. Has bundled 4g LTE... but am I insane or is 100 dollars for 5GB of data (which also has a 6 month expiration) insane? I've often hit the 2gb limit on my phone in a month. I mean, if someone used my car as a hotspot and watched a movie on netflix, It's basically like spending 10 dollars (or more) ... just to stream 1 fucking movie.

I mean jesus christ, I know they want to rape you over the fact that they've got a monopoly on the car's data access, but that just blows my mind.

I have considered Republic Wireless. But I don't want shitty reception at my house AND elsewhere. I wouldn't call Sprint coverage the best. Also, another thing to consider about resellers is that they might reroute your data elsewhere to save money. I know Straight Talk did that, routing all cellular data through some servers in AZ or FL. It made the ping really high, ~300ms, and killed any 4G speeds you might be getting. Resellers might have access to only a certain towers and their speeds might be capped too.

I would suggest reading up on the plan on some forums first. XDA devs might have a thread about it. And I'm relatively certain that Howard forums does.

I'm going with ATT's GoPhone plan at the end of the month. $54/month, no taxes no fees for 2GB data and postpaid access to all of ATT's towers. No roaming(don't care).

Depends where you're at on Sprint coverage from my own testing vs Verizon. From one of the cellphone reception tracking sites all the areas I care about they seem to be number 2. (TMo in the Space Coast, AT&T here and they do suck in Gainesville on them)

Not that Republic appeals at all here though. Need 4g here, and already get that rate with Sprint proper with potential for greater savings.

I spend $240 for five lines with unlimited data/ text and 1700 minutes on sprint. The phone subsidies are on top of that every two years, which averages out to a little under $20 per month per line.

Too bad sprint is god awful, at least in Indy

Ritley, I think if the subsidized phones aren't a dealmaker for you - ITHINKFramily is going to be better for 5 lines. Should be $35 per line with 5 (assuming no other people added to the Framily thing to get it down to $30/25) - so $175 before taxes and fees. $65 ahead of the game if you don't care about the subsidies/don't need upgrades. [And still easy to be ahead with sensible upgrading]

Apparently Best Buy got cleared to sell the Sprint HTC One (M8) [only Amber Gold though] early, was going to pick up ours tonight, but the system wasn't getting along so they had to cancel it for tonight - but will have ours tomorrow I guess.
