How often do you use that? While it might be useful, I'm worried it would be like my cordless drill, the battery slowly draining because I only use it once in a great while.

All the time. It is pretty easy to just toss it in my backpack if I'm heading out for the weekend or in my suit case or whatever when I'm traveling. I try to make a point to charge it the night before if I absolutely know I'll be traveling but it holds quite a few charges but even if you forget about it and don't charge it you'll still have a few full phone (or other items) charges out of it.

It is a no brainer if you have a few gadgets that can charge via USB. And it is only $25.

I ordered one of them from ebay- it was a big one with solar charge capability like "31k mah" but it really only managed a 75% charge to my wife's iPhone 5- its bigger than that...kinda bulky but has solar charge so its cool because she keeps it in the car and its always charged and she can toss it in her purse as needed.

Her iPhone 5 was getting really wonky on its battery...she hasn't needed it since she got the 6.

You either had a shitty phone battery or a shitty battery pack. I charged my brother's phone and mine on the boat a few weekends back and we had full power all weekend. I think between the two of us we each charged 1.5x and the battery back still had 65-75%.

Its both, the iPhone 5 had a jacked battery- would turn off at 20-30% plug in for a moment for reboot states 9%, 5min later 50% stays on another hour till 10% warning.. I ordered her a new battery that is STILL "en route" from China (never have I waited this long for delivery from China... I once got standard post from mainland the same day as USPS pri from Cali..)

anywho- the one I bought was a cheapo ebay30000 mAh Dual USB Solar Power Bank Battery Charger for Mobile Cell Phone USA | eBay

we only really used it once...and only relied on solar charge..so the indicator showed full...it may have not been full...as I know crappy solar cells tend to be sssllllooooowwwww

Sure. However it's still all bull shit the number doesn't mean anything when it's completely made up.

Android 5.0 - Lollipop is supposed to be released today. Any of you Nexus users get an update for it yet?

I just heard today that the Nexus 6 is going to be on all carriers. I had just assumed that there would never be another Verizon Nexus. I wonder what I could sell my latest reconditioned G2 for if I put it on Ebay still in the box.

As I posted in the Nexus thread, the radios on the N6 have me sold on it:

Network
2G/3G/4G LTE
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/8
LTE: Bands: 2/3/4/5/7/12/13/17/25/26/29/41
CA DL: Bands: B2-B13, B2-B17, B2-29, B4-B5, B4-B13, B4-B17, B4-B29

No need for carrier specific variants, great for those of us that do prepaid and like to have options. Barring any significant flaws that are found once it starts shipping, this will be the phone that replaces my N4.

Speaking of the N4, I'm really hoping I don't have to wait long for the 5.0 update. I'm already considering trying out the first 5.0 based rom to come out for it now that the AOSP repos have been updated to 5.0.

Google and it's 40,000 various google apps has slowly taken over my phone. It is always trying to tell me the weather, where to eat, places to go and even pops up randomly with directions to home.
Not sure if it is something I did or what but it is starting to annoy me when it does it every few hours.
Wish I could remove all the google shit as I don't use it but seems it is base software on the phone.

Anyone else have or had that issue?

Go into the Google Now options and disable Google Now - all of that you mentioned is just part of that functionality. It can't be removed but it can be disabled.

You could also just change the notifications on it. I do really like that it tells me when I should leave for appointments and shit but I turned off some of the other notifications. I have no idea how I did that but I'm sure if you tinker in the settings you can fix it.

Depends on which, I've found there's plenty that come up regardless of desire even after using the disable option on the ... thing in the corner. Some of the widgety things really have a mind of their own. But I personally appreciate the functionality enough to just swipe those away when they come up irrelevantly rather that disabling the functionality entirely.

Well my 5 month old HTC One (M8) has hit the 'top of screen stops working issue'. It will need to go back into the shop and we will see how much a repair will cost. I am so hacked off with this thing now that, were it insured, it would be meeting a wall at high velocity. Kicking myself for not waiting for the N5 like I was going to. I am never buying another 'flagship' phone that you can't uninstall useless shit from.
For example, the latest annoyance is the Fitbit app wants access to my SMS messages (for reasons defying understanding). I don't use the damn thing so that's a 'no wai' but because I can't uninstall it I have to tell it to fuck off every 2 days.
