A tip from someone who has had multiple phones where a portion of the screen quit working. There is an app calledUltimate Rotation Controlthat lets you override app specific rotation limitations that make it hard to get your files and such off the phone before you replace it. My last phone only had about 25% of the screen working and with that app and a litte creativity I was able to get all of my shit off the phone from several apps.

I am in the UK mate. It needs to go back to the O2 shop to exercise the carrier warranty. Pain in the arse tbh.
Ah shit, really? Figured it was an international thing that HTC did. (I did notice you were in Scotland)

Isn't it easier to enable usb debugging and grab everything with adb or one of the million remote control apps ?

Not if the USB debugging option is on a non-functioning part of the screen.

Android 5.0 Lollipop Nexus update release date set for November 12th | BGR

Lame. I know there are versions out there already that you can grab, but I am super lazy and just want to wait for OTA.
Google already updated AOSP with the 5.0 source, they just haven't released the factory images for anything other than the N9 and Nexus Player. Supposedly there is a bug for the N4 and N5 causing WiFi to freak out and kill the battery, so they're delaying the factory images until it's fixed.

People are already compiling AOSP roms for the N4 and N5 and hunting down bugs in it. I bet they have the wifi bug fixed before Google releases the factory images. I'll probably grab one for my N4 and play around with it this weekend.

I've been enjoying google voice integration into hangouts. The call quality has been good and the lag is not noticeable. There's some rough edges, like the hangouts dialer is not registered as a system dialer, so phone numbers clicked from other apps will go to regular dialer and out the wrong number unless you leave the old gvoice app installed and tell it to automatically use the gvoice number for all calls.

My worry is using this service in situations where a data connection is poor(calls and texts in hangouts will use data) but the voice connection is passable. If you turn off the gvoice forwarding to your carrier number(and you should, otherwise you will get two calls in all other situations), someone trying to call/text might not be able to reach you.

I'm actually not 100% on the text part of that problem. I think even if you don't elect to integrate gvoice into hangouts, texts to your gvoice number would still use your data connection to get to your phone. So maybe it's just people calling you in poor data areas that would be a problem.

Last year I think Walmart dropped the price on the 5c/5s by $100 but I don't think demand for those was as high as the 6/6+

Edged up to a Turbo yesterday. Pretty damn sweet phone. Love the pre-unlock screen notification management, being able to peek at messages and stuff before needing to enter a pin and whatnot.

How's the build quality and camera on that phone?

I really wish AT&T would do another contract buy-out promotion, I'm over Sprint and T-Mobile only has 2G in my town at the moment.

No complaints at all. Got the black ballistic nylon version because I didn't want a slick back, which the red was.

Really liking moto voice and the lock screen peek at notifications that in any phone I've ever had prior required a pin to be entered before I can see what the notification is. A simple 'OK droid turbo' (configurable wakeword) 'what's up?' and it reads the time and any unread notifications including the text message or partially downloaded email.

Really never expected to get a phone smaller than a note after having a note 2 and 3. No regrets so far. Reminds me of my original droid (more square than my Samsungs) and my galaxy nexus.

So I have been reading about the Nexus 6 and the size. Really it isn't much bigger than the iPhone 6+ in overall size, it just has a bigger screen. I think I may actually end up getting it after all. For sure going to wait until it is in stores so I can see it though.

You get used to the big phones and if you use it a decent amount I think most wouldn't go back to a smaller screen.

So my OPO preorder for some reason didn't clear payment and they cancelled it. I woke up this morning to an invite in my email, ordered again with the same payment and now my phone is already in shipping when it had 2 weeks left previously. So I guess the hassle ended up being beneficial.
