Batteries are actually usually very recent technology in smartphones if you are buying flagship phones. The problem is really that manufacturers design specific space compartments. You need more cells for more amps and that means more volume.

The only saving grace of these power hungry behemoths is that technology is getting better and more screen gives a bigger footprint to wedge more cells in.
pretty sure in the next ishit 7 it's gonna be 95% battery, just like the newest mac air

I'm interested in hearing about your experiences with it. I've got a Moto X+1 on T-Mobile's $30/mo pre-paid plan that gets you 100 minutes of talk, unlimited text and data (5GB LTE cap I think). But Project Fi looks pretty slick even though I'd be paying more.

Have everything set, just need the sim they are sending but like lenas said, been a few reports already. I will also be an odd case due to my location.

I made a post a few pages back about my experience. I'm still 100% happy I switched to Project Fi from Verizon. Now I just can't wait for the updated Nexus phones to come out.

First reaction to that was "Hardware button, WTF?". I see that it's a capacitive button that's also the fingerprint reader. Looks like it still has capacitive buttons on either side of it. I really wish more manufacturers would use on screen buttons. No NFC is also strange.

I'd also be wary of the Snapdragon 810, even with this being the new version that is supposedly fixed and runs cooler. Everything I've seen about the 810 is it was mostly a reference design from ARM instead of Qualcomm taking time to customize it because they wanted to get a 64 bit SOC on the market ASAP. The 801 and 805 really seemed to hit a sweet spot in performance and battery life, with the 810 much worse on battery.

Overall it looks to be a decent phone and is cheaper than I was expecting, but I have no desire to upgrade from the OPO.

Hate the OPT button, but the rest does look nice. No way is it worth upgrading from the original though.

Hands-on with the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition??"stock Android at a great price | Ars Technica

Moto X Pure has been announced. $399 for a stock Android flagship-level device seems pretty attractive. Assuming you are in the market for a screen that size anyways.

Pros: Stock Android, highly rated camera, all needed (US) antennas, SD card slot

Cons: TFT LCD screen (no hands-on review of the screen yet so it could be just fine), no wireless charging
I have the Motox 2014 and love it, they make good devices.

Randomly check Google Fi invite today and saw this: Invite Status: Expect your invite in 1-2 weeks.

I wonder if that is accurate.

Yeah, if they fix the camera, I might be in. I like my Moto X (2014), but the camera is one of the worst I've ever had on a "modern" smartphone.
I don't mind it, but then again I'm not one to take a lot of serious pictures - usually just shit I find funny or my kid or whatever. Camera has always been low on my list. Probably won't get this Moto X since I Just got the 2014, maybe the successor though.

Plus on Verizon the Moto X 2014 was $0.99

What are the GoogleFi phones that are usable that have a Note-like screen? I know the Oneplus2 and the Nexus are good sizes. What's the word on the street about those phones now?
