I don't suppose the 6P has a replaceable battery? My 2014 Moto X puts me into a rage on a daily basis now with its shit battery life and connectors that the plug always falls out of. I feel like a bad battery went from something that could be replaced for $10 to a throw the phone away kind of problem which is not progress IMO. The cynical side of me thinks that the whole non-replaceable battery thing was intentional because they know the battery will go to shit after a year and if that happens you're more likely to buy a new phone every year instead of every other year.

No dice on replaceable battery.

Replaceable batteries on top end phones are going/have gone the way of the dodo bird since they must include "packaging" to have a battery that is replaceable and that takes up space and weight.

Not only is there not a "replaceable" battery, but basically you are pretty screwed if you need to do any sort of repair/replacement on a 6P. I don't remember the website, but there is one that tears down every phone and rates how easy it is to do your own repairs on it and the 6P got one of the lowest ratings. Very hard to get apart, a ton of glue, basically you don't want to drop the damn thing.

5X got a higher rating FWIW.

LG is the only one in town, and a replacable battery is not optional in my opinion. Thus LG gets my business, very happy with the G4, had it for several months now.

Maybe I'll be getting the Nexus 6P after all.

My brand new Note 5 just took a bath in the toilet tonight. I've got it turned off, and in rice. Although I've read that rice actually does nothing. Huge ass phone, and small ass pockets in some pajama pants don't mix. Stood up and it tumbled.

It can work. The biggest factor is not to turn it on until you are certain it is dried out. Water doesnt hurt it, running electricity through it with water is what shorts and kills it. It's actually best if you can remove the battery altogether while it dies out. Bag of rice + sun.

I did this for an ex's iPhone. The screen was fucked, but the rest worked 100%. I ordered a new screen on eBay from China for like $10 and it was good as new.

You know those little bags and pods of desiccant(silica gel usually) you get in lots of products? Hang on to those. Instead of rice have a bag full of them to throw wet phones in to. They are designed to absorb moisture.

I mean, you could just order those too I guess and keep them on hand=P

I'm going to get some of those or some of the cell phone drying bags that I'm pretty sure do the exact same thing. Just to have on hand.

Just turned the phone on after 24 hours in a bag of rice. Everything good so far. Will see how it goes. Thankful it didn't cost me the phone, yet...

Might still get one, I live on the west coast so might make a difference? They knew I didn't have a 6p and I didn't get the USB Type-C cable.

So, anyone have the scoop on cheap Chinese-made Cell phones?

I've done just a little bit of reading, and it seems like you can get a phone that would be on par with the top of the line products from Samsung or Lg or Motorola, but pay hundreds of dollars less.

Something like this:
Pandawill Lenovo VIBE Z2 Pro K920 Quad Core 6.0 Inch 3GB 32GB Grey

Looks to be on par with a Samsung Note 5 or Nexus 6P spec-wise, but is only $350 (nearly half the price)

anyone have any experience getting cell phones from China?
