I am losing my memory at old age. How can I remember Gornit, but forget Sense heading...lol nice edit. Now there are two ways to keep them on task. If it was called Sense Direction - I'd send each SOE employee a pin to wear with a picture of a quarter jammed into the Left Arrow key to keep them on task.

I am then going to make a fun MMORPG modern day skill/ability game with a fluid UI and quick response times for combat. The content of the entire game will be going to the same/updated locales of the original EQ, making fun of SOE design decisions, employees, and culture at every turn. You will still go after heavily sought items, but there will be MANY said items. Want to increase your travel speed by 25% on foot? I am going to place the Ancient Cyclops on a 7 minute timer 100% guaranteed and have him shout random variables from what we all thought back in the day. "Remember when it took 17 hours for me to spawn!?!?" ... "Try to kill steal me, I dare you." and anyone that attacks the Ancient Cyclops after the first character, gets automatically DT'd by Cazic Thule who appears out of thin air. "VITALITY! You are the denizen of evil!" Bam. You are dead. In fact, it will auto teleport you to the other side of the world.
I would make all Hill Giants drop 1 copper in retaliation for being farmed for plat. Especially Gornit.
Gornit says, "Vitality, just take my money." and he drops sacks of coins on the ground once every hour and otherwise is un-killable.
I'll have naked human males running around the world screaming, "THE ARTIST ISN'T DONE YET" in Random locations.
I'll have a large idiot with a pony tail selling used horses in a corner back lot.
I'll have random character named bosses like, "Jiff Mutler" who will run the new EQ casino. Give him 1k plat, and you'll get back 1 copper and an empty box every time.
I'll have some of the toughest bosses in the game first drop cloth caps, and as everyone is about ready to jump off a cliff, Warder00 says, "Hah! Just kidding. Here, have some loot" and then another loot window opens and provides some awesome drops.
It will be like EQ revised meets Eternal Darkness Pranks + Trolling the entire player base. And there is so much content and play mechanisms to do it with.
Time to get on it. Russia, hurry up and bury this company so I can take over.

Now that you've skimmed the post you may want to go back and actually read it.i had a friend get into eq2 recently, he only needed to buy the sub and the latest xpac. total came out to around $50. If you want extra shit like mercenaries, you need to pay extra.
Heh, I've said the same myself here a few times, and after getting downvoted enough for it, I stopped saying it. There's several indie MMO titles that do the things people crave they want, but it's a niche market comparatively, and won't/can't have the funding level of the AAA titles. There's a lot more choice out there than people see, but they dismiss every title because it's not new, or it's buggy, or the UI isn't polished, or it doesn't have as nice of graphics, or the community is terrible. You can't go back. It's just how it is.Gonna co-sign this.
You see "Why can't we go back?" all the time when people talk about games. Not only this site but there are a lot of sites where people profess to be "old school players", bring up EQ, and everything else back to Pong.
Then you see them head straight for the AAA budget games and then the games that are indie made that actuallyhavethose features in them like The Repopulation etc, get largely ignored. Even on this site you can see just how many people push those threads up to the top while TOR, WoW, and the other gene pool recessed games are spiking. Those indie games don't hold a candle to the AAA ones in terms of polish or many times, just features. But they give more of the "EQ" experience than the mass games ever could and when you throw in they even look better and have more potential than EQ had/has, you wonder why they don't have vets beating down their doors because in actually, it's exactly what they've been crying for.
It's because money talks, bullshit walks for most players. They'll talk it up but won't back it, won't play it, won't stick with it.
Don't get me wrong; I actually liked TOR and FFXIV but I harbor no illusions about "going home again" whenever this nostalgia is rehashed. Let's call it what it is; a bygone age that only lives on in memory that pops up every once in awhile like menopause or a period every three months.

That puts it down the 3 years on the current concept.
