I really like the pirates. They provide an extra level of strife within the slave army and explain how Spartacus is (barely) feeding all his people. I'm glad they didn't gloss over that extremely major point. Plus this episode started some sort of a feint or trap against Crassus that Spartacus is using them to pull off. I look forward to seeing what they do.

My guess is that they're going to do whatever Spartacus has planned but this will ultimately result in them coming into contact with Crassus, who will buy them over to his side and that will result in Spartacus and Co. getting fucked (i.e real life).

Also, I think those who were saying Crassus was coming off as "the good guy" should be a bit happier now. The decimation scene was just brutal (as it should be) and I think that certainly made him a less likeable guy, especially after putting his son into the mix.

P.S. Gannicus is a fucking MONSTER. That fight scene between him, Crixus, Nivea, and random others was crazy. He was kicking all kinds of ass. I still want a spin-off of Gannicus: Wandering Gladiator.

Not really, I love tits and violence as much as the next guy but last nights episode seemed to consist of endless montages of violence. I found it all a bit boring honestly, nothing like the previous seasons which were way better.

Was just so happy someone finally fucking pimp slap Navia and called her a crazy bitch. Was really hoping he would kill her and that would be the rift that forced Crix to leave, was disappointed she was still breathing at the end of the episode. On the whole, I think, for me, Naevia is by far not only the worst character in terms of annoyance factor but also, just in general, the biggest "bad guy" in the show--she's just an evil, unhinged cunt.

Also, I think we saw some major foreshadowing of Gannicus' death. When Caesar said "I'll have a rematch with you later..." I'm thinking when they meet on the field, it's going to come down to Caesar vs Gannicus.

I dunno. The decimation, and making his son stand rank, made me like Crassus even more. lol. It wasn't all that subtle, him tearing up as he watched the decimation and his sons role in it. They're presenting him as exceptionally noble... I doubt the truth of it was so heroic.

It's really a lot more nuance than I ever expected to find in this show. I mean it's not mind blowing -- but that you have Spartacus, the noble barbarian, in a contest against Crassus, the noble citizen. You have the slave army slaughtering their prisoners, you have the roman army making their prisoners slaves and slaughtering each other. That's more than I expected. The previous Legate was a complete charicature of a inept-yet-powerful fuckhole until his final few episodes.

I too was hoping that newbia would die and Crixus would go all mad bull. Oh well.

This episode actually felt LESS over the top gratituous to me than the previous one. It was just montages of violence, but it existed to further the plot. Last episode just felt more... hey look, titties and gore! And we put some legionaries on fire!

All in all, S3 just feels different than 1 or 2. Frankly, I think it's just better. I mean It's still goreporn, but at least Crixus has a beard now. He went full Riker.

This is largely true.

I'm liking this season better than Season 2...err, last season (are we considering the prequel in the season count?) Last season felt disorganized (OMG, it was supposed to feel disorganized because THEY were disorganized~) and I didn't care about any of the characters. I can't help but think that Naevia would come off as more conflicted and less of a cunt if they had managed to keep the original actress. This one is just horrible and I have actively been rooting for someone to kill her since about halfway through last season.

Yeah I have to disagree about not caring about the characters. I really like how Crixus, Gannicus, and Spartacus have developed and I feel a lot more invested in them now than in previous seasons.

Regarding Naevia, I think my biggest gripe with her isn't the actress (although that's a close 2nd), but the fact that her character went from being a simple house slave to one of the better fighters in the slave army so quickly.

They've been trying their best to make her a "badass" for more than a season now, but the actress playing Newvia does suck compared to the original Naevia, she's trying too hard to show she's a total badass now and it's just coming off as more annoyance for the character than anything else. Every time she's on screen I keep hoping she will finally fucking die already.

I don't know if they're trying to portray her as a badass as much as clumsily trying to portray her as exhibiting PTSD from the rape/violence while trying to make her a badass. The character is rather flat like Lori from The Walking Dead. The previous Naevia had a sweet innocence that made her endearing. This Naevia is an erratic, irrational downer. She needs to die.

Not trying to choke on jupiters cock is all.

The show is great, but there are some issues. If anyone thought the Crassus scene was "good" for the show is a tard and needs to get laid. I like the occasional T and A. For instance, Gannicus and his wench. Quick and nice. The overdone shit with the gay scenes and now this is hard to watch.

Women watch the show as well, so they need to throw teh romance stuff in every once and awhile.

My GF complained about the scene and I was enjoying the boobs. Jozu is just super gay since he hates seeing naked women and gets scared when he sees a naked man.

I like the show, I think its an awesome setting and DeKnight and his people have done a great job getting the feel of Rome and the rebels and how they push and pull etc. The show is good enough where I would like to see more things of substance, to go along with the violence/gore and sex. I just said seeing Gannicus' girl fine ass before he took her off to put cock to purpose was great. I like that. Feels good man etc.

But then having to watch a scene with overdone, dramatic, simulated "love making" is fucking RETARDED. Has nothing to do ith being fucking gay. If you want to watch soft port stay up late and watch cinemax. GTFO of here with that shit.
