They made that statement because KO and Cody are officially part of Smackdown on Friday but the next WWE show to follow Bad Blood was Monday Night Raw. And they wanted everyone to wait until Friday to get an explanation. So yes, they are playing it off as a "real" fight for as "real" as wrestling feuds get.

WWE intentionally put this fight in a location they knew fans would film it to give it an "unauthorized" feel. You can find multiple angles on Twitter and YouTube. Pretty good gimmick.

It just me or does the Sweet Saudi Money Championship look a LOT like the AEW championship?
This is like looking into an alternate universe where AEW/WWE did a co-branded show and AEW champion Cody won the WWE title (or vice versa). Or even just an alternate universe where Cody won the AEW title.
