In the episode where Data creates Lal Picard does tell an admiral to eat dirt when the dude pulls rank trying to separate them. Even then he's not exactly defying the chain of command as he plans to immediately return to Star Fleet Command to get shit sorted out. No you're not separating a father and daughter like this fuck you this is too big to be settled out here like this get fucked.

But he's still operating within the command structure. There's also naval tradition that a captain is sovereign on his ship.

If this Picard won a Medal of Honor, he'd stand on the stage and furiously masturbate his front-hole while he whined about how much he hated his former cock, his white skin, the fact that he has a few dollars, and the entire existence of the Federation. He would praise Romulus whist having never read a single Romulan book or having even the slightest clue as to what Romulan ideology and culture is like.

This Picard would step aside if two angry Romulan women stormed the stage and demanded the microphone. This version of Picard has no idea how to act like a leader or be a leader because leadership is patriarchy and Federation supremacy. The only thing he knows how to do is tuck his nuts behind his thighs and pretend to fuck himself in the mirror.

You guys are panicking... sheesh isn’t it cool seeing one of the most bad ass characters in sci if history getting into it again... Picard was always an idealist and would have and did “take off the communicator” when starfleet was off the reservation... he defended ideals always... and it seems setup to do the same.. thinking starfleet was perfect is innaccurate anyhow... at least we can root for a good guy fighting for the Roddenberry ideals... but corruption and shit always will exist when humans are involved and history repeats..... setup is spot on Picard imo.. in some ways it’s a knock on where Star Trek has gone also....

Kurtzman's career is littered with absolute garbage, what makes you think this will be any different? Memberberries?

We're indeed far off the "reservation" when it comes to Roddenberry's vision, but don't take my word, take his instead.

"We believed that the often ridiculed mass audience is sick of this world's petty nationalism and all it's old ways and old hatreds, and that people are not only willing but anxious to think beyond most petty beliefs that have for so long kept mankind divided. So you see that the formula, the magic ingredient that many people keep seeking and many of them keep missing is really not in Star Trek. It is in the audience. There is an intelligent life form out on the other side of that television too.

The whole show was an attempt to say that humanity will reach maturity and wisdom on the day that it begins not just to tolerate, but to take a special delight in differences in ideas and differences in life forms. We tried to say that the worst possible thing that can happen to all of us is for the future to somehow press us into a common mould, where we begin to act and talk and look and think alike. If we cannot learn to actually enjoy those small differences, take a positive delight in those small differences between our own kind, here on this planet, then we do not deserve to go out into space and meet the diversity that is almost certainly out there. And I think that this is what people responded to. "

It was a sympathetic barf. I wasn't barfing at Daezuel, I was barfing with him.

Daez said in discord that he thought you were too dumb to realize it was a Roddenberry quote

So it sounds like this is movie Picard and not show Picard. They are two very different characters

That was one thing I didn't get about the RLM review. They acted like Data and Picard had no relationship to speak of and it was weird that Picard would have Data popping up in his dreams so much. I mean, I'll grant it was a much bigger thing with movie Picard (going back to save him from the Borg, Data's sacrifice, etc)...but was still relevant in the show, too (Picard defending Data at the one trial to decide whether he was Starfleet property). Even if it hadn't been, movie Picard exists and seems obvious he'd be hanging on to Data's memory quite a bit.

Did you even watch TNG ? Your just making a dumb argument, Picard was always the champion of those ideals, that’s the point. Go watch insurrection again.

Organizations with humans vying for some gain will always stomp all over someone, TNG dedicated plenty of episodes and films to that and it’s very in character for Picard to fight that battle and wake him up out of old age.

You would think with your quotation you would get behind it... was Starfleet perfect in TNG ?

the first episode is literally how they failed to clone Wolverine, but hey, lets try making a female Wolverine from his blood instead, maybe that'll work... it did!!! x-23... i mean, Dahj is born.

Movie Picard backs the Baku because he wants to get in the pants of a milf space elf despite everything involving the resettlement being nice and legal. It's not really even the planet that is at issue either. It's the ring around the planet and the medical benefits it provides.

Television show Picard backs the forced resettlement of Native Americans (no milf Indians catch Picard's eye) and when Wesley decides to back the colonists and defy orders Picard takes a gigantic fucking shit on him including scolding him for making decisions above his pay grade.

Movie Picard and TNG Picard take the exact opposite position on the same issue.

In regards to watching Insurrection again not without a Rifftrax or RLM commentary track over the top.

Data didn't have a relationship with Picard?

THE ACTUAL FUCK.

Anyone remember whose arm Picard grabbed when he was still connected to the Collective? FUCKING DATA. How many times did Picard have moral and philosophical and humanizing conversations with Data? It wasn't just the movies. Motherfuckers need to go back and watch TNG again. Picard played father figure or guide to a lot of the cast, but Data most of all.

As far as Starfleet, their moral ideals are their strength, but like any organization of large scope is suceptible to corruption, both internally, and externally from social pressures or infiltration/espionage/terrorism.

The arch over the entirety of the first season of TNG was those bug fuckers taking over top Starfleet officials. The Founders in DS9. The Mars isolationist faction in ENT. Fuck, Starfleet for all its moral high ground has done some pretty treasonous espionage themselves, infiltrating the Tal Shiar, a secret mission Picard was in on, but that's a whole other conversation.
