That looks much more like a new Imperial Shuttle given the size, ramp, presence of royal guards, and the wings which look like the lambda shuttle wings but in a traditional Tie form.

Why would anyone want to take the visual perfection that is the lambda and replace it with that monstrosity?

Mechanical problems with the mechanism that moves the wings was just wrecking the Imperial maintenance budget. Remember Palpatine originally got elected on a platform of anti-corruption and fiscal responsibility.

Kind of my thought too. Guessing its the Inquisitor shuttle because you see a black TIE next to it. So more like Vader's TIE Advanced.

Star Wars creator George Lucas has admitted his ideas for a new trilogy of films were ignored by studio Disney after he sold all rights to the long-running space opera saga in October 2012.
The film-maker told USA Today last week that he planned to shoot episode seven of the series - since retooled by JJ Abrams as Star Wars: The Force Awakens - and release it in May this year. He also provided treatments for three new films. But in a new interview with Cinema Blend Lucas revealed that none of his ideas made the final screenplay for Abrams' debut turn in the director's chair.
"The ones that I sold to Disney, they came up to the decision that they didn't really want to do those," said Lucas. "So they made up their own. So it's not the ones that I originally wrote [on screen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens]."

Lucas's revelation undercuts suggestions by his son Jett in 2013 that the film-maker was "constantly talking" to Abrams and had set out "guidelines" for the new movie.

Disney plans to release a new trilogy of Star Wars films between now and 2019, with beloved characters such as Yoda, Han Solo and Boba Fett also tipped to receive their own standalone spin-off movies. The studio's move to install JJ Abrams and reportedly eschew the CGI-heavy mode of Lucas's oft-derided prequel films in favour of a return to the style of the original trilogy that hit cinemas between 1977 and 1983 has so far proven popular with fans. The Force Awakens, which is released in December, is according to researchers currently 2015's most highly-anticipated movie. It is also the bookmakers' runaway favourite to be the year's highest-grossing film.

In other Star Wars news, the BBC's entertainment correspondent Lizo Mzimba has suggested that The Force Awakens could feature the space saga's first ever female stormtrooper in the shape of 30-year-old British actor Amybeth Hargreaves.

Saw that this morning, and it's probably the best news ever for the Star Wars universe; completely throwing out everything Lucas had written.

I'm somewhat torn on that announcement. While, yes, I think Lucas has long since run out of whatever magic he had when making the first trilogy (okay... New Hope and Empire) I really don't think JJ is going to take us back to our childhood with anything remotely like the wonder of Star Wars. His first Star Trek movie was mediocre and Into Darkness was utter shit. The additional news on spin-off movies just leaves me cold as well.

For the most recent Lucas bashing see Strange Magic reviews. I don't want anything written by Lucas in any universe, but whether JJ is good or not is a completely separate issue and the same goes for the stand alones. There is no collective good/bad view like Marvel yet, each is going to be judged independently.

someone should make a thread. My word does that look so bad. Watching a lucas interview about it was so horrible. the guy is so completely out of touch, its sad.

According to Spielberg, the last indiana Jones movie was lucas' idea. And he wanted the 2nd Indy movie to be set in an haunted house lol

Yeah if you watch any of the behind the scenes stuff from while they were making it, Spielberg was pretty much like "George wants to do what? Sure, why not?" He was just along for the ride.

No. Avengers 2 is not more anticipated then a sequel people have been waiting for over 3 decades. You might be anticipating Avengers 2 more, but world wide Star Wars is a much bigger brand by miles.

really goes off of what polls, some have Ultron some have star wars. Star wars has left a bad taste in peoples mouths where Marvel can make anything sell from their track record lately.

And I would make a bet that Avengers makes more $$
