Yeah the key is in the word "anticipated." Hollywood fuckheads might be "anticipating" big money from this movie, but any person of moderate intelligence who has seen the most recent anal-raping of the Star Wars franchise is not anticipating this movie much more than "somewhat anxiously awaiting a less intense anal raping." Personally, I'm not at all excited about this movie. When the time comes, I'll likely see it, but almost definitely in a manner not at all describable as "anticipatory."

I'm very excited about Age of Ultron, though, and am very much anticipating it to be fantastically superifically amazeballs. Because, you know, Marvel has been knocking that shit out of the park for awhile now. Thus anticipation.

P.S. Fuck Lucas.

That's a whole lot of fucking bullshit to try and justify A2 being more anticipated. It's not. Let go of the fanboy shit for a second and see the bigger picture. You can try and Tanoomba your way out of this shit by trying to redefine anticipated all you want but It doesn't change facts.

You're telling me the average person is anticipating Star Wars 7 more than Avengers 2? I find that hard to believe. Star Wars fanboys quite possibly, but sorry, it's been over 10 years since the last Star Wars installment, and they sucked ass, enough to allow even people of average intelligence to realize that the prequels weren't good.

Are you kidding me? Everyone knows what Star Wars is, not everyone knows or gives a shit about comic book movies. You keep bringing up the prequels like that has fucking anything to do with this. I can't fucking believe you would even argue this shit. Are you like 16 or something?

It's not like we've had any television series or video games come out during that 10 years to keep attention on the franchise.

Completely off topic but... urgh! The older I get the faster the years vanish.
/agreed
My vocabulary has changed from talking about something happening "a few years ago" to "10 or 15 years ago."

On topic... My opinion is Star Wars will be very anticipated... And it will only rise the closer it gets and after more footage is shown. Avengers I think has the top spot now because we just got new footage and it is going to come out six months prior. Both will be great... Haters will hate... And both will make mega bank.

I'd be willing to bet that for most men aged 35-50, they care more about Star Wars than any comic book movie. That age range is right in the wheelhouse for being a kid or teenager during the original 3 movies. That shit was HUGE. It was beyond movies, it was in every part of pop culture. It was way bigger than anything Marvel has ever done at any point.

But there is definitely a generation of people (sub-30) that don't really give a shit about Star Wars because all they know of it is 3 shitty movies and 3 old movies that don't really interest them because they came out 20 years before they were born.

Its definitely a generational thing for sure. My two kids could give 2 shits about star wars. They saw the movies and were like meh. They just dont get it and I dont blame them. Although they did enjoy the lego star wars shit.

The only way to salvage this is to put out some fine ass gritty, dark, rated R movies that take the Star Wars universe in a new direction like the dark knight movies did. But that will not happen. Although I still hold out hope now that Lucas is far removed from this.

First paragraph:
Yup. I have that opinion also. Although Star Wars is bigger than avengers and its characters combined.

Second paragraph:
They have already done it. It's called "Revenge of the Sith" and it is pretty bad.

I just turned 31 and I...couldn't give much of a shit about Star Wars. I enjoyed them when I was a kid, but Jedi came out a year before I was born. My first "real" exposure to it was Phantom Menace which I saw opening day. It pretty much ruined the entire franchise for me. I barely cared about 2 and 3. I certainly didn't see them in the theater and when I finally did see them, hardly paid attention to the plots because they just weren't that good.

So as far as 7 goes, I mean, I guess it might be good, but I'm definitely not holding my breath. Will the 35+ people really be enough to drive the box office? I'm not big on comic movies either, but the first Avengers movie was shockingly good. Because of how good it was, it has me infinitely more excited for a sequel than Star Wars.

tl;dr I think a lot of you are underestimating the damage the prequels did to the Star Wars name. If you weren't of age (10+) when the original trilogy came out, you likely don't care much about the Star Wars universe, and that might not be enough to drive ticket sales.

Marvel Agents of Shield is doing a hell of a lot more than Star Wars Rebels at promoting franchise developments / hype.
