They will very likely regret there casting choices for this movie. Someone is going to get fired over this. They will ether reboot after the first film or there will be a white boy joining the cast as a main character in the second movie.

Actually the ones with the big regets right now are the toy companies already committed to Christmas star wars production runs.

I'm going into episode 7 expecting a very well made action movie set in the Star Wars universe that is brimming with nostalgia. I'm expecting it to have far less emotional impact than the originals. I hope I'm proven incorrect, but after what JJ did with Star Trek, I doubt I will be.

Yea I just noticed the biggest movie toy franchise in history is releasing a movie the week before Christmas. You know after they have already sold the toys.

That release date is all you need to know star wars seven is going to be a phantom menace meets hunger games shit pile.
I'd say it's more like they are using the same strategy as Avatar (top grossing movie of all time) and releasing when everyone is off work and out of school and can easily see the movie multiple times.

Well to be honest this thread is also about how bad movies 4-6 were. Hollywood has deservedly lost the trust of the Star Wars fan base over those three movies. I see no reason not to take a critical view there choices in movie seven.
someone is going full retard, or neg farming legit style...assuming you are referring to the OT

Most people are being hyperbolic, that's actually a realistic figure.

I think it makes 1b it's opening week if it gets enough theaters to do so.
Last movie I saw at the theater was Planet of the Apes with Marky Mark and I'm gonna fork out the dough to go see this so I can see this being the highest grossing ever.

That is impossible given current theater counts, prices, and running time. Amusing comment given your mention of realistic figures in the previous paragraph.

Could certainly break all records though.

Come on guys... let's put our cynical personas warped by online gaming (primarily SoE) aside and let's travel back to a time before MMO's and let the inner child out!

Right now it's projected to do 615m world wide opening week and that is without china or the addition of more screens. It shouldn't take much longer then a week though, Jurrasic World took 13 days to hit the 1b mark. So hitting 1B in a week is not going to happen, it isn't that far off.

I guess I was assuming he was talking about just the domestic market (my mistake if you meant global, Jait). Yeah, worldwide it's not that crazy.

They can make a shit movie and put star wars on title and make a billion dollars that doesn't mean the movie isn't shit.

So far Holywood has fucked up Star trek, Star Wars, Spiderman, Superman everyone of those movies made bank because of the inherent strength of the IP those movies are based upon. That doesn't change the fact that all the recent movies from those IP were crap to mediocre at best.
