Why make any dumb guesses on it's quality? Just go watch the damn thing and go from there.Am I the only one that doesn't really care? It will be decent. Better than the Phantom Trilogy, not as good as Fury Road.
I doubt I'll see it in a theater, but it will probably be worth the cost of the ticket.
I'm kind of in this camp as well because you know that they basically had unlimited resources to do this right. Of course, fool me twice...I will be legit disappointed if it isn't straight up amazing. They've had so much time, so many smart people, so many correct decisions made, I am ready for it.
That's not a casting decision, it's a writing choice. They wrote a female lead into the story. No problem with the Black guy its the white girl that I have a problem with. Star Wars was always at its core through the entire first three movies about the relationship between sons and there fathers. The broken unresolved jagged wound of the Vadar, Leia relationship is also central to complete narrative of first three movies.
The concept was so appealing that the next three movies went back and told the story of the father. But lacking the conflict of the father, son relationship of the original movies they were far less appealing. The conflict between Luke and Vader was the driving theme of all the good Star Wars movies. Now we get a hunger games fifteen year old girl as ether the Luke are the Han of the new movie while the Leia role has vanished in order to make room for giving the older characters screen time.
They will very likely regret there casting choices for this movie. Someone is going to get fired over this. They will ether reboot after the first film or there will be a white boy joining the cast as a main character in the second movie.
Well they did move the release date up after it had already started, so they shortened the timetable for making it by several months. That could come back to bite 'em.I'm kind of in this camp as well because you know that they basically had unlimited resources to do this right. Of course, fool me twice...
Why do people keep referring to Rey as little girl or fifteen year old? No idea how old her character is supposed to be but I could guess close in age to ren. The real life actress was 21 or 22 at time of filming. No problem with the Black guy its the white girl that I have a problem with. Because she looks like a fifteen year old who just stepped off the set of hunger games. Why do people keep referring to Rey as little girl or fifteen year old? I'm perfectly fine with the leading roles as far as looks is concerned. We will see how they act and the script they have to work with.
I agree with some others that I very much dislike when they alter an established character to a different race. No issue with starting new characters of mixed races. Can you imagine the media uproar if someone like falcon or warmachine were cast as white males?
Well I imagine the rebellion only grew exponentially after RotJ as well. Of course it appears they weren't entirely successful politically judging by the extensive wreckage...Back onto the topic, I like how every scene we see shows every locale just ripped the fuck apart. I imagine the various generals and moffs in the empire just fought the rebellion and each other over every scrap of dirty, and there's little in the way of civilization standing in the galaxy.
I think the well ran dry in the Political thread so decided to set up shop here. You should farm negs elsewhere.
The fact you take all this seriously is delightful. You're the guy who said the 316,500 gun deaths in the USA over the last decade was 10% of the population right? I think you have a lot of work ahead of you....
You are correct, women in their early 20's didn't exist before Hunger Games.Because she looks like a fifteen year old who just stepped off the set of hunger games.
Boudicca actually existed, had red hair and I assume tits.Boudicca?
Well, I don't think it's the fact alone that he's black. For instance, I felt that Samuel Jackson rocked as Windu, and if he hadn't played that role and was instead starring as the "new" main protoganist in this Star Wars I don't think I'd be feeling the same way. The guy they got to play this role is a nobody, looks as "black" as you can possibly get, and doesn't seem to be particularly badass. It just kinda has this "PC feel" around the whole selection process. He was still a side character and also initially betrayed the heroes (even if somewhat forced). But if you think they should have no problem with the original series then white men shouldn't have issues with this one. Still plenty of white and/or male heroes.
However, once a black dude becomes a main heroic character, oh no, white dudes can't relate. It is so ridiculous. It's not like this is a story about inner city life. This is all fiction not substantially grounded in any real life culture or experience. Frenzied, maul, and whoever else are basically saying he can't relate because of skin color (well, and their own racist projections). It makes no rational sense.
