Apparently the never say Palpatine or Ewoks in the original trilogy. I know I just called him The Emperor when I was a kid, so I'm not sure where or when I picked up on the name Palpatine, but it must've been before TPM.

Edit: looked at the packaging from the RotJ toys and he was just called "The Emperor" there too.
Off topic, I specifically remember sending away my proofs of purchase from other figures to get The Emperor. Same thing with Nien Nunb. Aw, memories *sniff sniff*

Pretty sure the 1984 send away figure was listed as Emperor Palpatine.

That just brought back a ton of memories, I used to collect GI Joes as a kid and they would have a big catalog of special GI joes you could only get by sending in UPCs. I wonder if I still have any of them, are GI joes worth anything?

I honestly hope this movie is the greatest thing ever. I have nothing to gain by "choosing" to have a differing view from you or anyone else on this board.

My prediction: I will like it. Probably more so than some Episodes, and probably less so than other Episodes. But based on my experience with this board and my preference in movies, I will no doubt be at odds with quite a few of you on what I found enjoyable.

Thought I remembered the credits listing him as Emperor Palpatine... but then again I thought that about someone else and Gavin proved me wrong. My brain just can't remember all these things anymore.

haha, it's funny because although I watched the movies a lot as a kid, I still played with the toysa lotmore, so my familiarity with their looks skewed toward the toys. It always took a bit to readjust to the way The Emperor and especially the Rancor looked in the movies compared to the toys

No, it was just The Emperor back when the originals came out. The usage of Palpatine didn't start until much later as I recall. It wouldn't surprise me if it was changed in the SE's though.

Yeah. I think the palpatine name was after re released in 1997

I don't recall the name Palpatine being uttered in any of the OT including in the SEs. The first time I saw the name was in the original Star Wars novel. After that I'm pretty sure it was used in the EU only up until TPM.

Crazy... I swear I, as a kid, used to stump my friends about his name. This would have been way before the SE and I never read the novels. Bootstrap paradox?

On another front, getting JACKED for this movie. My son keeps asking if it's Christmas yet because he knows around then is when he gets to go. So fun to share my childhood with him.
