Again, reading comprehension here is not a strong point for you guys, which is odd considering the nature of the this board.

I never said I wasn't emotionally affected by ANY Star Wars film. Nor have I "trashed" any of them.

Next...
What forum are you reading? Not absolutely loving a revered film in the same way most do IS trashing it. You might as well rape everyone's grandma while you're at it.

Re;cake

I feel for the poor peasants that don't have a Publix near by... they do cakes and wedding cakes on par to boutique and specialty places, mine was from there and every one of my friends that got married have used them- most of them say "it looks AND tastes awesome!"

Oh..starwars!

I'd feel much better about humanity if I could say I thought Edge was trolling about all this, but after reading the past couple pages I just think he's the type of guy that gets off on having a contrary opinion and it's pointless to argue against because that's all he wants.

The prequels aren't better. This isn't subjective. We have hipsters for everything else though might as well be Star Wars hipsters too. Kill me.
Yes, the fact that I like something you do not makes me a contrarian. Brilliant observation.

Kinda random, but a friend was bitching about the BB-8 design, calling it a dumb beachball droid or something along those lines. But the design is actually kind of genius for a droid that's meant to travel through the sand all day. Makes a hell of a lot more sense than R2, who really had to roll around on planks hidden from the camera in the dune scenes

The article also says this:

"She's a physical model, operated by a puppeteer. The puppeteers are then digitally removed from the picture - so, while the dreaded CGI is still being used, it'll be good CGI."

From what I've seen, BB-8 is completely remote control and there are no puppeteers - or even cables - to remove in post
There's actually 5 different BB-8's used in the movie. One of them is indeed remote controlled but for all of the close up things they are 1 of 4 puppet versions that allows them to have much more control over it.

as a side note, my extended family (my sister, her husband, and her awesome 8 year old son/my nephew) went dressed as new Star Wars characters for Halloween. He was BB-8. We spent like 25+ hours doing modified paper mache over a balloon and painting it for his costume. Not sure how to break it to them that we were giving him his first taste of cross dressing.

I'm waiting for someone to retcon the black dude as being the illegitimate son of Leia and Lando. Would make the Han/Lando rivalry a bit more emotional

Also, Sorry to bring this back up but on the topic of the prequels if you watch the movies using theMachete Cutthey become much more enjoyable. They are still by far the weakest of the trilogy but the new viewing order actually helps flesh out some stuff. The remove the Phantom Menace out completely and that is the big thing that makes it' better. It goes 4,5,2,3,6 and it is pretty awesome to watch in a marathon.

When you think about it all the serious shit was in the first movie.

Terrible Kid actor
Podracing
JarJar
Trade negotiations
Queen Amadala subplot
gungan subplot
Naboo
Midichlorians.

All of that shit was only in the first movie so if you cut it out completely it brings the other two up a bit.

The best part of the new viewing order is that you watch 4 and 5 and 5 ends with a cliff hanger with the evil Darth Vader cutting the hand off his own son and capturing Han solo, It looks like the empire is going to win and it makes Darth Vader look like an evil son of a bitch. When you watch 2 and 3 after 5 it plays like an extended flashback scene exploring how Vader became so evil and how he fathered Luke. It also helps establish a build up to 6 to see the final conclusion. It also works too, They do not reference ANYTHING in the first movies what so ever, every character who was introduced in the first movie is reintroduced in the first 5 minutes of 2 or they died. They talk about Obi Wons Master twice in passing and Jarjar has like two lines in 2 and none in 3. The best part is that if you skip 1 you skip all the unneeded shots of the emperor that spoil the rest of the movies because you obviously know palpatine is the bad guy it makes anakins corruption much more subtle. Oh and I forgot they do not mention Midichlorians at all in the other movies, Making the force still seem mysterious and magical and not bullshit DNA.

If anyone is going to Marathon the movies before seeing 7 I would suggest giving 2 and 3 a chance using the Machete cut you may actually appreciate them a little bit more.

A friend recommended this to me the other day. Might give it a shot even though going from the best (5) to worst (2) might make the terribleness of 2 stand out all that much more.

One thing that kills me about Palpatine in Episode 1 is that everyone knew who he was, but when Lucas would talk about it, he'd always say "well... I can just say that things aren't what they seem. that's kind of the overarching theme of the prequel trilogy"... turns out things were what they seemed. He also mentioned that he would explain more about Force Ghosts and that Qui Gon would return as one... which I don't think he ever did. It just ended up seeming like Lucas had no idea where he was going with the prequels. I suppose that could be said about the original trilogy too, but at least I was too young at the time to hear anything he may or may not have said between episodes back then

Just read the Machete link. One thing that doesn't make sense is the end bit: "Darth Vader dies a Jedi instead of a Sith. The new Death Star is destroyed, celebration ensues. You see the young ghost of Anakin Skywalker, the original Obi Wan, and Yoda. This now makes more sense as a new person to Star Wars wouldn't recognize the older Anakin. End Credits."

Why wouldnt a new person to Star Wars recognize old Anakin?? You just saw him die. How is it any different to when we first saw him 30 years ago?
