Blown away by those trade negotiation scenes eh? I really emotionally connect with those too bro.
In fairness I didn't really hate it until the Jedi actually go down to Naboo. The first time watching the movie the whole Jedi showing up to the blockade and the Federation guys shitting their pants over it was pretty sweet. Then they went to Naboo and Jar Jar etc happened. UGH.

Yea, you have to remember it's the first time we see real Jedi on the screen in decades. Of course they are dumb as rocks and pop out their lightsabers when they smell(?) the poison gas.

Yeah, the trade federation is just boring. The gungans are straight up retarded though. "Yousa in biiiiiiig doodoo, meesa binks" SHOOT ME IN THE FUCKING FACE

Then it gets boring again for a while when the trade federation and Portman discuss whatever, who cares. The only exciting moments in the movies involve Darth Maul. And then pod racing scene, while still bad, not as bad as I remember.

You mean the "I have seen those eyes" thing? It's entirely possible she's just talking about the desperate or defiant look and not any sort of family lineage.

Finn is obviously a Jon Snow type figure with an unknown origin who will be later revealed to be a pertinent actor through his lineage etc.

When i was younger I thought The Phantom Menace was kind of decent, which is amazing considering how awful that movie really is, but before the prequels came out, my best friends sister had a boyfriend who was a HUGE Star Wars geek who literally had rooms full of memorabilia and toys and was a fanatic in every sense so he had us super pumped up to go see the movie. He payed for me and like 3 of our buddies to go and even drove us there with my buddys sister.

Needless to say he was disappointed but I honestly remember me and my friends enjoyed the movie and couldnt understand why he didnt like it. We were like 13 -15 yrs old at the time though so its forgivable. Revenge of the Sith wasnt so bad but honestly Abrams has a huge task here. If this movie sucks he is gonna be under big pressure to produce going forward.

redletter guys have a prediction video up. I was expecting a 5 minute joke reel, but they actually go into it and make it interesting.

All they're going off of is the three trailers and the comic con reel. And booze.

And cynicism.

Oh no! Senator Binks' tomb has been desecrated! There's Bantha poop everywhere!!!
well see how it goes. but the, "totally ignore the prequels" is already wrong.

I'd agree don't expect much prequel/clonewars/rebels stuff to be plot relevant. But, don't be surprised at Gungan background characters either.

I think they are going to double down with the prequels. Characters like Grievous are now iconic to the franchise.

There's really some good from the prequels that just gets overshadowed on the big screen. It's really hard to stomach some of the dialogue and of course JarJar but when you isolate some of the situations, stories, and characters, there's some good. This is a real big chance for StarWars to embrace the good, carry it forward, and leave then ad behind. I hope they do so.

Grievous had the potential to be a great character, but the way he was portrayed in Ep.III was terrible. The first thing 90% of people saw of him was walking onto the bridge of his ship, coughing, and playing Three Stooges with his battle droids. If you watched the animated Clone Wars shorts, the last thing they showed was Grievous capturing Palpatine and one of the Jedi trying to force crush his body, hence the coughs(I may have some details off, it's been a long time). In those cartoons, the Jedi were scared of him because he strait up murdered a ton of them. But not a lot of people saw those shorts.

Yeah, I remember this. The whole explanation for him coughing weirdly was given in this cartoon, not even in the movie. Which made it not have any fucking sense in the movie.

grevious in the clone wars cartoon was pretty badass, he kills lots of jedi.
Agreed, he was an interesting character that had all his interesting parts put in a secondary media snip that most people did not see. If you just watched the movies you wouldn't give a shit about the light saber robot but he was a neat character.
