He didn't have to, he was Supreme Chancellor at the end of TPM. Plus they do clearly reference him as the Senator of the Sovereign System of Naboo. And screw you guys for making me think about TPM :p

The Phantom Menace bugs me for a number of reasons, but among them is the fact that I actually like the core story element of Palpatine being a xenophobic political genius that acted as a puppetmaster to engineer the crisis.

Its the Kernel in the nugget of Shit. The second one had a few nuggets, some of the Genosis stuff is pretty good, then yoda jumps around like a fucking moron. The thirds Anakin/Obi Wan battle was pretty cool until the NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happened.

There were moments of cool in the obiwan Anakin fight, but it lasted so long without any real sense of progression that it went from being tense to boring real fast

Yeah and at first it seemed like they had started to move away from the overly choreographed dance fighting of the first two, then Anakin and Obi-Wan spent 15 seconds spinning their lightsabers in circles around themselves without actually attacking.

If he's not force sensitive he should basically be irradiated w/ Force Particles cuz Luke gave his mom (who was a xwing pilot) a Force sensitive tree when she retired.
