I actually yelled in the theater during that "Bombing" run. I never do that kind of shit. That moment blew right past my filter as I yelled. " There is no gravity in space. How the fuck are bombs dropping"?

Disney did something with that movie that I would have never thought possible. They made a movie worse that the prequels. I am one of those people that will never again watch anything Star Wars from Disney, at the movie theater. A movie would have to get fantastic reviews for me to even reconsider that position. I am not to worried about that happening at this point.

This movie did get amazing reviews. I won't watch another fucking star wars movie again, ever. Period.

I didn't care about the bombers dropping bombs in space, Star Wars is science fantasy and the science part is loose at best. This is especially true when it comes to the physics of space, right from the jump.

The stranger thing to me was the Rebels has 2 god damn bombers already. Why did they need a 3rd kind that moved super slow and in a straight line?

just a general question, outside of all the heinous shit the Empire/First Order did to destroy the rebellion, were they really that terrible? they seemed pretty hands off when it came to actually running planets. If there was no rebellion, Alderaan and all those other planets would be just fine. maybe some higher space taxes, but otherwise business as usual.

Gravity well - Wikipedia

A gravity well is the pull of gravity that a large body in space exerts. The larger the body (the more mass) the more of a gravity well it has. The Sun has a large (or deep) gravity well. Asteroids and small moons have much shallower gravity wells.

Now, I never saw the movie. I haven't seen any of the new Star Wars movies. It sounds like the ships just release bombs in what looks exactly like a WW2 bombing run. That's still dumb. It just didn't have to be.

A "gravity well" is just gravity. It simplifies the visualization of how gravity works.

The "gravity well" of small objects exists but is negligible for matter at the scale depicted in TLJ bombing scene. THAT is the problem.

Gravity exits between any two pieces of matter in space, no matter the distance. But it follows the inverse-square law. At long distance it may feel like nothing, but it's there.

The problem at its core it they know Lucas always stole from old movies, Kurosawa for lightsabres and Jedi. Hughes dog fights in Hell's Angels for space battles etc. Disney tried to go to those same wells but didnt know how to put it thru the SW lens. They literally reenacted the allies bombing Berlin with ship to ship combat, it was so disjointed, bizarre and visually boring.

This is how you 'bomb' shit in a SW Film, even a bad one.

That retarded fucking move invalidated any threat anything in the universe could ever pose. Death star? Hyperspace the fuck out of it. Mega super duper death star? Hyperspace it x2

No amount of Voyager level techno-babble could ever fix it either. "Yes, well, AHHHHTCHULLY, the Death Star has an inverse kinetic tachyon field which disrupts any and all hyperspace movement within it's proximity" won't even work as the ramming would have long since made it impossible to have any sort of space battle without it just being drone-piloted kamikaze spaceships.

Looked fucking cool though, which is about the only good thing I can say about the movie.

Oh god, I just had horrible thought about the weaponizing hyperspace scene. What if Johnson/Kennedy wrote that intending SJW pink hair to survive by saying the ship went straight through and aside from damage to the outer hull it was still intact enough for her to live and make it to episode 9.
