Yeah, I dont think so. There hasn't been a good Star Wars movie since the 80s and the tv and expanded universe shit is niche nerd shit. 4 billion was a steal given what these movies could have made, but they're bad for a different reason than the prequels were. Still bad.

Look, my point wasnt that no one likes Star wars, it was that people like very specific things about it, and all of it stemming from 40 year old movies, not from anything recent. 2 movies (should be 3 but fanboys are salty bitches) are universally loved and everything else is either divisive or a niche thing

What's so crazy to me is this studio also brought us "a better than I'd ever have imagined Marvel cinematic universe." Think about that shit for a second. The fucks that financed these three dog turds also brought us Civil War and Winter Soldier. So I finally sat down and watched Charlie's (Emergency Awesome) Non-spoiler review and it makes me feel a little better. I've always felt he was honest even if I didn't fully agree with him. It appears that JJ "tried" to retcon a lot of things (even if it subtle) and make up for a lot of lost, wasted time as a result of TLJ. It sounds like we are not going to like it but I now have a little hope that it's an attempt to put some pieces back together for the future. I'm just really sad this franchise, probably in my top 3 franchises over the recent years, is slowly losing ground. What I hate most is we lost important time with the original cast. Carrie Fisher will always have the Mary Poppins scene in her career. Hamil will have milked and alien and hid away in an abandoned hut. Ridley was declared a nobody then retconned into a somebody only to carry a despised name, hiding behind the name of a franchise.

Oh well.. I need to just shut up until I see it lol. If you're a child of the 80's and get into this stuff, you just walk around baffled by this and want to smack somebody. I guess until I meet Rian Johnson, I'll just have to keep posting my thoughts in this thread. lol

Yeah you can't canonize all of it, especially with the books that have come out since Disney took over. Zahn's original Thrawn trilogy can't be canon because of the new books is the most glaring example of this.

There is some really shitty stuff in the EU. There's also a good bit of decent to good stuff. I do think Zahn's Thrawn trilogy pretty much is head and shoulders above everything else by a good bit, though.
