Sounds like it should have been 2 movies and actually fleshed out stuff and given time and breath to a lot of those situations and would have been a perfect // story to Ep 4-5-6 - rather than the random shit of TLJ

Seeing Luke milking that creature in the last movie summed up Disney's stewardship of the franchise for me.
Of course I'll watch this but I'm under no illusions it'll do justice to the kid I was 40 odd years ago. Equally, I'd be colossally naïve to think that would be the case.

Only saw the first of this gen in theatres with kids, the rest I watched at home, lol including solo and rogue one on netflix. Kids never saw any of the rest because they just dont give a shit.
They need to darken this shit up a bit. I know this is supposed to be for kids, but lets face it, this gen kids dont give a flying fuck about star Wars. Its only us old kids from the 70s and 80s who give any fuck about this franchise anymore. so, umm, make it for us, the grown ups in the room, not kids from the 2Ks who have 100 different star warsy shit to watch.

I much prefer my monumental drastic changes to the universe completely out of the blue sans conversation a la hyperspace kamikazes.
That leaked plot isn't super terrible....if they hadn't made TFA and TLJ. What's the point of the First Order or Snoke if Palp was out there the whole time with his own empire? What was the point of even finding Luke if he's not the one to "complete" Rey's training? What was the point of Han suicide'ing the death star 3.0 if they were just going to get wiped out by conventional forces immediately thereafter? I know we've beaten the lack of trilogy plot to death already but I think it's unrecoverable for me at this point. Best case I'll enjoy it the way I enjoy Solo - pretend it is just some space action movie and not Star Wars.

TLJ wasn't dark? Ackbar was killed without any explicit mention of his death. Literally if you blinked, you missed it. In Rogue One, one of the characters is mind-raped by something straight out of a hentai.
Star Wars, after 10+ movies, tons of books(which they've voided), and a few cartoons, is still incredibly shallow. Ironically, they don't have the established universe in which to explore its darker side. It's also why the above felt comical and forgettable instead of resonating with the viewer.
Think of it this way. This is basically the difference between DS9 and BS:G. Essentially created by the same guy, but BS:G is darker. Yet BS:G didn't have years of good Star Trek lore to contrast with, so it all felt a bit unearned. Probably also didn't help that the story went off the rails towards the end.
RE: PALPADINE dying in ROTJ
Technically we did not see him die, we saw his robe/body fall down the shaft, it vanishes in the light, then FLASH of light happens almost immediately- which everyone ASSUMES is Palpatine getting his ass vaporized...but we didn't actually SEE him die,, we saw something hit the reactor/magical power source and a flash of light happened...the dude just fell down a fucking shaft.,..he is a fucking jedi master, we saw fucking leia fly in SPACE with the force, you mean to say a Sith MASTER cannot do the same fucking thing to miss the vaporizing part and the only thing that got vaporized his cloak? or an arm or legs hitting and just THAT getting vaporized ( think DARTH MAUL being in Rebels after being cut fucking in half in phantom menace)?
Soap opera logic about DEATH. A character is never dead, even if shot, buried, drowned etc unless you have the ACTUAL BODY. Even with a BODY, it might have been a TWIN no one knew about

Plus if they left even the whiff of plausibility that he was alive maybe the force ghosts would say something, cause he wouldn't go into hiding for 30 years.
