The "Deepfake" in the title implies it's an AI / computer-generated fake.
It could be a Deep Deepfake though, which would make it real.

tell me if this sounds familiar. a good guy in the force convinces the bad guy in the force to redeem themselves by helping kill emperor palpatine right before he unleashes his ultimate weapon on friends/rebelsFrom the trailer, I don't really see an obvious rehash. I mean obviously there's a few callbacks and we're seeing old characters every few seconds just because "LOOK, IT'S THE STAR WARS YOU LOVE" but other than that, the story seems like something new.. doesn't mean it's going to be good, but it doesn't feel like a rehash of ROTJ.
And I agree Disney has probably been backpedaling a lot due to the mess TLJ made, it's pretty obvious from the direction the story is going.
I'm quite surprised we saw no Sith Troopers or Knights of Ren at all in that trailer, I'm hoping they're not just in a 30 seconds scene in the film because they look pretty cool.
As for old lady CGI, they've repeatedly said they're not doing CGI Leia at all, they're re-using unused footage of Leia from TFA and changing the background with CGI to fit the scene. I expect only a little Leia in the movie.
It could be a Deep Deepfake though, which would make it real.
How much pure CGI old lady is going to be in this
JJ said none.
It's going to be all authentic footage. If its not, then he lied to promote the movie and sell authenticity.
its gonna happen, when the software becomes better and cheaper so everyone can make peter cushing blow up Alderaans in their own home then hollywood will just fold. i give it ten years. They already did it with Peter Cushing so why not? I'd assume families have some kind of rights to prevent their likenesses from being used, but oh man the can of worms Hollywood could open with unfettered access.
all that unused foot tage? does that mean TLJ really could have been totally different? and they just fagg'd it upYep, supposedly it's just all reworked stuff from TLJ that wasn't used.
Even funnier considering that TLJ was the longest SW movie to date. Rise beats it by 3 minutes. If these movies were good, I wouldn't mind each one being like 3 hours.all that unused foot tage? does that mean TLJ really could have been totally different? and they just fagg'd it up
both are pretty stupid, but at least Maul had 2 pieces when he dropped down that million foot hole.Hey I am not condoning what I typed, and think that him coming back is stupidity in action, I just said, well we never actually saw a body, and then used soap opera logic so say this is how he survived, plus the fact that Darth maul survived getting literally cut in half (at the waist) so postulate how he might have survived.
Also since "cloaked transports" don't involve actual cloaking (citation: TLJ) we would have visually seen if one had snuck out before the explosion.
