What's interesting is there does not exist a single proof of concept for an AI gamemaster that integrates with a game engine. I look every few months and all I've seen is either AI NPCs that simply talk to you or purely text based games. There must be some limitation of current LLMs or someone hasn't built an integration framework to consume LLM garbage yet.
What you're going to get is an NPC Gnome Aquamancer playing "Barbie Girl" on his flute when the player asks him to play a tune.

FFS, this game is still a goddamn mess. I installed the DLC and loaded up my old save (L70 character still in the first cycle, and for some reason I had quit playing the game in the middle of the prison mission for the pirate dudes). I remember the NPC who's with you for that mission used to bug out and get stuck a lot, and to my complete lack of surprise, he still does. Doesn't really matter since he teleports to the next spot for the story when you get near it, but it still looks retarded when it keeps happening. All the weapon crates in the place were locked but totally empty too, but I guess you can probably chalk that one up to loading a really old savegame.

I finally complete the mission and escape in the prison shuttle. Instead of the dude tagging along for the mission being on board with me, suddenly my entire crew from my own ship magically appears in the shuttle and start yapping about all their usual bullshit, all at the same time talking over each other. Looking out into space around the Key, there's a bunch of ships just spinning in place. Usually 2-3 ships in one spot clipped into each other too.

Maybe it's all because of it being a save that's just over a year old, but I kind of doubt it. That could cause issues with the cells that were already loaded in the save data, but every other cell in the game should be unaffected. I really don't want to play this turd from the beginning just to check out the DLC, and also see what changes have been made to the ship builder in the past year. Although I did just remember that that playthrough was before I knew how the story missions worked and I ended up losing Andreja. Doesn't really seem like a good idea to do a whole DLC built around Varuun without being able to bring her along for it, so I guess I do have to either start over or finish up the rest of this cycle and go on to NG+. Ugh.

TBH that sounds funner than WoW questing.

Out of curiosity I checked the concurrent player numbers for this on Steam to see how much interest the DLC has...

Skyrim is higher right now :emoji_sweat_smile:

I have achieved and plat whored some of the worst games. We’re talking even Hannah Montana on the 360.

This game made me feel like a podling slave having their essence drained by the Dark Crystal once I got the final achievement.

Steam users are having none of it either.

Mostly due to the price vs. amount of content. Definitely a valid criticism, seeing as the 'expansion' is just a chunk of a planet. It's hand-crafted unlike the rest of the game, but it's all completely self-contained. It's like they realized the game failed so spectacularly at being about space travel and exploration that they just said fuck it and made a Skyrim/Fallout-esque DLC that takes place all in one area. There's nothing new for ships, one(?) new recruitable crew member, and a handful of weapons/equipment.

Having just loaded up the game for the first time in over a year I was also pretty disappointed to find that the Razorleaf ship build that I spent a few hours perfecting back then seems to still be the best possible setup for max speed + maneuverability, 30 LY jump, highest dps guns, ~3k cargo, 6 crew, etc. The 'home ship' thing is still just as clunky as before too.

Still torn on whether I want to bother with doing the whole DLC at all. I definitely don't want to restart a whole new save, but it seems like to do it properly I will have to go through all the unity bullshit and then do whatever is necessary to get to the point in the NG+1 story where doing the DLC makes sense.

Yeah, it's hard to pass that off as worthwhile content for the price when Phantom Liberty was also $30.

I watched a number of reviews and the consensus is it seems like existing content that just wasn't ready for the game at launch.

BGS just doesn't seem to have it any more; DEI and Microsoft money has cooked them. The company that made Morrowind and "perfected" that formula with Skyrim can't move on and time has passed them by.

Would we have loved Starfield in 2018 or 2020? Maybe. It would have been received better, to be sure but after what has been done with No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk, plus the state that it actually shipped in (no maps for cities?) , along with the deficiency of the MSQ narrative, regardless of the year, it still would be an failure.

The only question is can they get it together for the next game or is this unrecoverable.

Unrecoverable.

None of the true talent is there anymore - the infestation of DEI is complete along with never moving their cheese off that engine.

TES:6 will be completely lackluster. Will still sell like hotcakes unfortunately.

This day and age, when the complexity has increased a great deal, it's difficult to turn your back on something that's getting continually tested by a thousand different developers.

I bought this game almost exclusively off previous good will Bethesda has built up, and this game probably converted me to a hard no on all future bethesda content. Haven't even looked at the trailer for the new stuff. Did any of our usual tards bother buying this total slop expansion? I don't see them posting.

It's shocking how terrible their games have gotten. Nothing about this game is even slightly interesting or engaging. Only my good will was able to get me as far as it did.

If sleeping pills could magically become a game, they would become Starfield. Between the somber music and the Chucky Cheese animatronic NPCs yapping 10 minutes of exposition in the flattest way possible and the vast swaths of nothing on most planets and the absolute snoozefest of a MSQ, it's a chore to even play. The Terrormorph UC questline was probably one of the few that was interesting, but even that was punctuated by a lot of the above issues.

I have the xpac because I was a sucker and bought the deluxe edition at launch and I have almost no motivation to even try it.

The only game that made me want to doze off even more in recent history was Dragon's Dogma 2

I just installed it, because I bought the super edition, too.

I was going to try to fire it up sometime this weekend, continue my NG+. I'm probably some sort of retarded outlier when it comes to the game, but ...

I don't know what it is but I just like the game. I don't play a lot of stuff anymore, probably not near the amount that some of you do, but if I had free time, I honestly just found it to be relaxing. Yeah it's not perfect, but I'm honestly just had fun. I think part of it was the ship building stuff, but I thought the different faction quest we're pretty fun. Stuff with the crimson fleet was interesting, same with the UC.

Main story isn't quite there, but still enjoyed it. I honestly got more bored with Skyrim other than the exploration aspect of the game. It's not like the story was amazing in that, but after decades of modding, it's a completely different game.

I at least feel that I got my money's worth out of it, the end of the day when it comes to a stupid video game, that's all that matters.
