I got Blackflag for free with my videocard.....do I need to play Brotherhood first to know what's going on or are they totally stand alone?

Also, has anyone played Wargame: Airland Battle? It looks pretty awesome.

So again, am I okay just playing Blackflag or do I need previous AC games to know the story of whats going on in Blackflag?

I'm in the same situation. Brotherhood was a good game that was definitely worth playing, but Revelations is a real chore to get through. From what I've heard AC3 isn't a whole lot better than Revelations was.

You definitely won't have any clue what's going on in the present day storyline. The historical parts are almost entirely self-contained.

big sale on a lot of ubisoft games including fallout, new vegas, all the assassin creeds, etc most at $5 or less
Huge Ubisoft Holiday Sale - Several games $5.00 or less (PC download) - Slickdeals.net

use code 10THANKS for 10% more off. some give steam keys, some are uplay keys - both fallouts are steam keys and both are goty editions. if you have never played em, you should. now.
Trying to see if the Walking Dead DLC is also for Steam. For $1.25, might as well? But it says nothing on the page that I can see, even for the Fallout games that it activates on Steam.

You don't need to play any AC to understand AC4. The Desmond present day story line ended with AC3.

I'm pretty sure there are only two versions of TWD: the direct-from-Telltale version that is not Steamworks, and the Steamworks version you get if you buy it from any other retailer. As for Fallout, all of Bethesda's games from Fallout 3 onward have been Steam-exclusive titles.

You don't need to play any AC to understand AC4. The Desmond present day story line ended with AC3.
Weird. I mean, I stumbled across spoilers for the end of AC3 a while back, but still... it seems bizarre that you wouldn't have to have any knowledge of Desmond, Abstergo, etc. going into AC4.

I thought it sucked, and I loved FC3. Steam says I played Blood Dragon for 44 minutes.

Curious about the AC4 on Amazon. If it's the Steam version, will it still try to make me play it on Uplay?
Yes, few posts above explained that.

bf4 pc is $30 on amazon today, this is for box version not digital copy (hopefully the digital version drops too, kinda fucking stupid its still msrp)
Amazon.com: Battlefield 4 - PC: Video Games

totally worth $30 if your pc is decent enough (3 years?) to run it, easily 50-100 hours of "war is hell" fun. does require origin

If you had never played a previous AC, the current-day stuff would be a bit odd in AC4, but through the lore/database you can put together a lot of it. I've only played through AC2 completely. AC4 is so much better than the previous games, I would recommend just reading plot spoilers from Revelations/AC3 and go right into playing AC4.
