Stellar Blade (April 26th, PS5)

Free Update with Photo Mode landed a day early, and its really good. The new outfits are alright, and all are rewards for doing the Photo missions. The Nier DLC itself seems to be priced at $9.99US, people in Asia have access to it already and have been showing stuff off all day on Reddit. It includes the destroyed versions of 2B and A2 outfits, but you need to die and revive using the WB Pump item. Also, in Nier Automata 2B would try to swap the camera away if you looked at her ass for too long. This too is in the game, but with a twist. Eve will spin around and kick the camera away. Its hilarious (I think Kaine did this in Nier Replicant and killed the character, lol). Nice update.

Not really a weeb game fan by any means but considering being a financial supporter of this anyways.

Steam Deck is in my head for a joint Xmas present but I have great doubts about it playing something like this when it comes out for PC.

That's why you play it on the PC from your deck.

Finished getting everything from the update and Nier DLC, and to be honest, I'm slightly disappointed with it. The Photo Mode update and everything that came with it was pretty great, but the Photo Mode itself is flawed in that it re-enables some filters that introduce some noise/film grain over the image (even is disabled in Settings). They will need to add a toggle option for that within Photo Mode itself. The billboard missions to enable PM were fun and take you throughout Xion, Wasteland and Great Desert to find stuff.

The Nier DLC. The outfits are superb, with the unique one for this collab being amazing. Yet, having zero story about Emil, or even any quests from him is where I'm mainly disappointed. I'm sure SU had plans for a more robust DLC given how it "ends" once you get all the items, but something stopped that from happening - budget, time or scheduling the VA's for Eve / Emil. Another slight disappointment has to do with the Nier music, we get 2 tracks for campsites (both of which I'm not a fan of), and when wearing one of the Nier outfits a Nier Automata track will replace the songs for Wasteland (fantastic tune) and Great Desert (worst song from Nier Automata, imo).

Anyway, the update/dlc offers even more amazing T&A. Just wish it had some Story for Emil.

stellar blade will be on digital sale tomorrow on PSN, 25% off so should be around $52. Plus $10 for the nier DLC. Not sure I wanna dip in at that price or wait to see if they release a GOTY edition or whatever, or even just wait for the PC version for those sweet sweet mods

It 100% does. The only downside is that ghosting is still present in the Pro MAX mode, but less than you'd see on a base PS5/Quality mode. The Pro mode is a solid 75-80fps (nearly 80 locked) if you have a 120hz tv/monitor.

yeah i bit the bullet and bought a copy at best buy ($50) delivering tomorrow, i figure since i own a ps5 pro i need to actually play a game that uses it instead of the years old games i am playing atm

• Performance Enhancements:
  • On PS5, originally the game struggled with performance, achieving locked 60fps only in performance mode at the expense of image quality
  • Balanced mode also hits consistent 60fps now, thanks to improved GPU capabilities of the Pro in boost mode
  • The new Pro mode uses PSSR to upscale a native 1800p image; has the best image quality out of all the modes; maintains locked 60fps and is ideal for 60Hz displays, even without VRR support.
  • Pro max mode is basically the old quality mode with unlocked framerate; operates between 50-60fps, requiring VRR for optimal results.
• High Frame-Rate (HFR) Mode:
  • Unlocks 120Hz output, reducing input lag and improving responsiveness
  • Pro mode caps frame rate at 80fps in HFR, reducing input lag and offering smoother gameplay.
  • Cutscenes remain capped at 60fps, but gameplay performance can dip into the 70s.
  • This is John's recommended way of playing the game, assuming that you have VRR at 120Hz on your TV. (and of course, that VRR doesn't look like ass in VRR like many Local dimming TVs do).
• Best Mode Recommendation:
  • Pro mode is recommended over pro max for a balanced experience in both performance and image quality.
  • Works well with or without HFR mode activated.
  • Don't use Pro Max mode

so i guess the thing is to use pro mode not max for best FPS/quality

Note, with the latest patch you'll get Photo Mode and 4 outfits. If you want the Nier stuff you can grab it later. I'd almost suggest playing the first area of the game in base Balanced mode, so you can see the difference once you use Pro mode (if you can enable HFR as well).

Hm, what else could Shift Up release prior to the PC launch that will keep the game in ppls minds? Valentines Day, and maaaaybe a Nikke collab just before PC.

just started playing and enjoying it although unlike indiana jones i pretty much have to stop after an hour or so, i think looking around for all the collectibles is a little draining. There is a FUCK TON in the game.

combat is really fun and the player character is hot. yes, i try to look up her skirt when she walks up ladders

Man, you fags are making me second guess my decision to ignore the Pro. Biggest thing stopping me now is that Gamestop just permanently closed my local store a couple days ago and the one ~30 minutes away is now gone too, so I'd have to drive close to an hour to trade in my PS5. Plus the retards at Sony can't seem to keep the disc drive or stand in stock anywhere but direct from them.

I still only have about 2-3 hours into Stellar Blade despite pre-ordering it, mostly because I quit playing after the first round of censorship in hopes that they'd revert some/all of it. They never did, and I never got around to playing it again.

How hard is it to play this game with one hand?
