I can't tell if these guys are kings of the retread or just smart to keep content relevant. I feel TFB being redone for 55 was dumb. I had enough of that in December including hard modes. IMO they should have kept the game at 50 and just gated the new op behind the story and added the new hard mode fps as a new tier.

We'll see. I wonder what's next for this game. That new planet felt about like the latest Blizzard patch in terms of content.

I love to troll this game. Last night I convinced a minimum of 50 people on DK to meet me at the cantina in kaas city, take off all their armor, hit their walk key, and follow me in a naked parade because I said I worked for Bioware and was promoting same sex relationships in SWTOR and needed screenshots. Holy shit!
They were just glad to have some content.

you're a troll for thinking that's trolling, unless you went to that gay planet and started /shouting 'god/theforce hates fags'.

was looking through some screenshots of EV/KP/EC from the first half of last year with leveling. Game was easy as hell but I did have a blast first time through. Actually have one shot of Balmorra that I thought looked freaking amazing. So much potential even with what's there.

I really like how my Warrior looks now. That's right. Dildo pink lightsaber. Actually, our old GM bet I wouldn't use it and have been too lazy to change back. I love the different armor combos you can get. Muted compared to most mmo's but really fits the Star Wars universe for the most part (some of their tier gear designs notwithstanding).

I've run through both Imp and Republic storylines for Makeb, plus the staged weekly which is like an epilogue to the story in mission form. I really like it. Each side has a different reason for being there and each side comes out different on the back end. I *loved* the final conversation on the Pub side because it really highlights how the "Open Hand" policy they have can bite them in the ass. Still getting a handle on the gameplay changes overall but from a 'Sin standpoint I can't complain one bit. Deception is now God Mode in the right hands and against people who don't know what they're doing. Darkness got a bit of a boost, especially in PvP since they made Shielding capable of affecting Tech and Force abilities plus having it work through Guard. I've never done Madness and I think people are bitching about that spec but it was always a poorer version of the Sorc stuff so I'm not sure what they can do there. Oh, and before I forget, the Shroud line of quests are fucking awesome. Those by itself are worth the price of admission.

There's a decent amount of stuff to do but in the end it goes back to things like Dailies, Flashpoints, and Operations. I like the idea of the Staged Weekly but some of the missions are annoyingly long (which I guess is why it's a weekly). The GSI stuff is a nice change of pace but it's a mixed bag. Doing the dailies for those in any place but Makeb seems like a waste of time since you can do Makeb dailies and those at the same time. The Seeker Droid stuff is SWTOR's version of Archaeology, complete with the usual randomness but there's less running for it since the locations are static.

There's some issues so it's not all sunshine and roses. Many of the Achievements are messed up. I think they took a step backward with regards to abilities firing off. I have queued-ability set to .75 and sometimes I just have something not go off even after pressing the button multiple times. Crew Skills are kind of messed up right now with some of the missions returning just flat out the wrong item. Mat requirements are kind of ludicrous for some stuff and not at all in line with what's come before.

Overall it's a good addition to the game. Not worth $20 for non-subs, just because it doesn't feel like $20 worth of content. Maybe $15. For subs, it's definitely worth the $10. Also keep in mind that expansions aren't just their release, not in MMOs. So it'll be interesting to see where things go from here because I've not seen any news in regards to what they plan to do next.

On a personal note, I'm hating the usual post-expansion gauntlet of having to gear out again. That said, what I do have allows me to run with just shy of 38k hit points in Warzones as a 'Sin Tank. Can't wait until I min/max. Gonna be a bitch though. I got my Slicer up to 450 like two days after early access started and since that time, running missions as often as I possibly can, I have 4 of the Purple Slicing mats needed for the Advanced augments. You need 4 for each one. The Prototype augments are still much better than the Advanced 22s and those are easy enough to get so I'll just run those for the time being. Oye.

There were some set bonus adjustments. I'm not sure about the exact changes, just that they didn't hit Assassins so I didn't bother checking the details.

Oh, and one last thing. One of the better changes was their move from having individual planet commendations to a catch-all Planetary comm. They converted at a 1:1 rate, so chances are if you're anything like my characters, you likely have the max of 100 on any given level 50. If you're undergeared, grab some shells, and there's a Modification vendor in the Supplies area of the fleet, right next to the Correllia vendor. Sells level 50 armorings, hilts, barrels, mods, and enhancements that are rating 146. Nice way to get a boost before going into the wilds of Makeb.

So how exactly does this game play if you're not subbed or otherwise dumping cash into it? I'd like to finish my Trooper and Sith warrior stories, but I am not ever giving EA money again.

So when I had time last week to play, I picked to play a Sniper, and plugged in all those new leveling packages to that char. Now I wish I made a Force User of some sort. Oh well. What a waste. Why can't that shit be account bound. :/

Yeah, that gets old. I'm firmly on the side of "this is a great single player game" now. I am not sure if I'll bother doing more than a single storymode run if that.

My recommendation if you're not in a hurry? Drop coin on an authenticator and bind it. I was accruing cartel coins while I was canceled from that and used it once in a while to make playing not so frustrating for each character. I think it has to be the physical one.

The more I think about it, the only way Star Wars would have worked and been a hit was to be semi-factionless (Sith and Jedi are fine if you want to allign yourselves) with mirror-classes being more bound to your dark/light and then making a fully open space game with more sandbox-y planets. I think I described SWG but more refined to be iconic like Bioware did. I never cared about being a fucking cantina dancer.

I'm viewing a Sith/Jedi old republic war and agents/smugglers and BH/Troopers have the right to pick sides...at will even. Sith and Jedi can even group with some...limitations...maybe a friendly fire option? Trying to think outside the box.

Color me FUCKING CONFUSED....

Finished Makeb and did some of the Seeds (Ripoff of WoW archaeology) and some of the Macrobinocular quest (neat and Star Wars-y), but why the fuck am I only 1/3 through 53 and standing over the smoldering corpse of the Archon?? Why am I only 1/3 through 53 and seeing the end cinematic of this "expansion?" Why am I only 53 and left with 2 or 3 objectives on the aforementioned side quests and nothing to level for a fucking level and a half but dailies....? And why does this game play like shit still?

I want to love this game..I do. I want to fight Jedi. I want to fight the Dreadmasters. I want to see the Sith Emperor...but I'm not willing to do it on these terms. I can't believe I've got to grind out in a game based on STORY on fucking daily quests because their xpac couldn't finish 5 levels without a goddamn xp booster. At the rate they recycle ops, it will be 2015 before all fucking dreadmasters are available in game anyway.

I was kinda expecting Lord Cytharat to become a new companion for the expansion...imagine my surprise when he just gets sent to the hospital and never comes back.

I was a bit shocked that the expansion seemed pretty cool and yet very short.

I dinged 55 before I finished Makeb. I haven't done any of the binocular or whatever side quests, only did the dailies on Makeb that I bumped in to while following the storyline, didn't use any XP boosters..... buuuuuuuut I did do a shitload of Warzones.

Or dies depending on your choice. Writers were pretty brutal to the supporting cast this time around.

Assassin was 55 on the Archon, Commando was 54 on Toborro. Exp boosts used but not for the full boat. Decent amount of side exp came from doing the Heroics at least twice and a run through KP using GF. Commando hit 55 using a single Makeb daily run. I'm taking my time getting other toons up there, though I did push through for the Master Craftsman title (450 crafting in all professions).

How is the journey from 1 to 55? I bought the game but RL and work took over. Is it worth playing for the story and would it require a sub and xp pots?

You guys complaining know that this was never an expansion to begin with right? It was supposed to be included back in an August/September (2012) patch free with subscription obviously. Once the game went free to play, they saw a new way to tack on a sale. The planet itself was already 75% complete when the game launched.

I wouldn't expect anything better than what you got, which was a $19.99 DLC Mass Effect EA'd expansion which was finished a hell of a long time ago and exploited for profit. (Oh, they also tuned down experience per quest/side once they knew there would be a cash shop and 25% bonus XP pots available)

Caeden, if you do not subscribe, it would be even worse. They totally forgot about those people and didn't think F2P or Premium players would pay $19.99 anyway. (Ha)
