Yeah, I meant to more specifically say I was agreeing with you. Sorry for the confusion. The setup is awesome.
Oh yeah, wish there was something really hard to challenge you once you're fully geared though, golem just doesn't do it. Like some sort of portal that opens a randomized area with all sorts of block types and monsters, with much higher stats/movement/attackspeed and bosses randomly spawning. Would need to rebuff turtle and buff shroomite some though I guess, as they're pretty far from as good as spectre in terms of overall power. That said spectre would still need a nerf to be balanced, lifesteal is way too good when your damage output is your entire lifebar every second or faster unless it's a stupidly low value like .5% and even then it'd still be good the way health regen is capped in the game atm.

I bought Terraria and barely played it around 1.0, I just recently came back. This game is an absolute blast and is relatively easy to just jump in and figure things out yourself. I like that you can login for 30 mins and feel like you accomplished something.
Yeah this is me right now. Loving it for the first time pretty much.

After spending several sessions trying to get a crimson key drop, I resorted to an AFK meteor farm to get it. Now I have vampire knives. Time to try the other domination build (turtle armor + vamp knives).

Edit: grammar fail

I have been playing this game for a couple of weeks and it has been very fun. I was able to take down Plantera the other day and farm ectoplasm for the Spectre set as well as acquire Magnet Sphere. I was completely melee until that point and I felt like I was making my life extremely difficult by being melee. You just can't seem to get enough defense / life regen for melee to compete with range / magic.

I have primarily been working on acquiring NPCs just to see what is around. I made a jungle / mushroom biome on top of my house so I can have the witch doctor and mushroom guy. I have the pygmy staff / full tiki armor now and have been playing with that. I have been trying to set up an AFK farm by using the pygmys but I always seem to die due to the wraiths, dungeon spirits, etc. I did get a star cloak last night so I may add that to see if it helps.

For afk farms you generally want like turtle armor+campfire+honey+ring of regen then you wall off with a bunch of traps and shit like that. Tiki farms are only good against weaker shit it seems like. I haven't bothered though, I just manually farmed everything I needed to farm, even made an Ankh Shield which wasn't so hard(had most of the drops already from normal leveling, only had to farm corruptors for like 20mins and cursed skulls for 10). There's a lot of farm examples on reddit though if you wanna see how they're done, but most of them use that tank+regen setup for shit that goes through walls. Other way is to simply break the backwall all the way to your farm and setup a bed there so you can set your spawn point, that way even if you die it doesn't matter(assuming softcore), for traps farm at least.

When AFK farming for keys, you typically place 50 blocks of meteorite to convert the enemies to meteor heads. Wear Chlorophtye or Turtle armor for auto-damage. Stand in honey for the heal + putting out fire debuff, and place a campfire next to you. Then reap your sweet, sweet rewards.

Note: make sure there is no water in the area around your AFK setup. A bug in the spawning system will cause water mobs to spawn instead of meteor heads, stopping the flow of enemies into your death trap. Set up your camp underground in corruption/crimson or hallow to also farm night/light souls.

Meteor farming is good if you're farming keys, but you can't farm specific drops. If you're gonna farm keys you might as well setup a farm with multiple biomes, you need like 150-250blocks of each and then you can get all types of keys at the same time(corruption and hallow might cancel each other though, not sure but ppl were saying it didn't work).

Before you beat Plantera...How did you beat it for the first time? I'm not interested in your awesome post Plantera gear kills...What/How did you get your first Plantera kill? I tried the gimmicky corridor with Teleporters just now and died at phase 2 @50%. I'm wondering if any beat it with Melee? I can't imagine how, but did everyone just hop and dodge the way to victory?

I had full hallowed (melee helm) and a set of 5 light discs; wings are important as well. A megashark as well w/ crystal bullets helps for 2nd phase.

At the entrance to your jungle underground, smooth out a strip of land 1-2 screens long. Break the pink bulb and work your way back to the surface. Use light discs in phase one. Run from him throwing the discs, then fly-jump back over and run the other way, repeat. In phase two it's harder to put the light discs through the little vine companions, so you may need to swap to the megashark. Have potions ready and drink them as the cooldown finishes. You may want a health regen item, honey pit, campfire, heart statue on a timer, etc to boost your health regen. A cross necklace (or star veil) is also useful for reducing your damage taken. Campfire won't be very effective since you will be constantly on the move.

If you luck out and can craft a Terra Blade, the projectile from it is very effective. Strategy remains the same.

Build bridge on the surface, pull planterra there, fight it on a bridge. That's how I killed it on mage, on melee I killed it standing in honey+campfire+heart statue+turtle armor+star cloak+charm of myths+ironskin/regen pots, that was first kill and no twinking, granted you might have to farm to get the items if you don't have them already(bunch of mimic drops mostly, and finding a heart statue might take a long time). Can definitely kill it with a bridge as "melee" though, craft the 5 light discs or whatever the name is, the 5boomerangs, and just spam them while you run along the bridge. Works the same way, Planterra is fairly easy to beat on a bridge, in phase2 she does bursts of speed to catch up with you but with lightning boots she generally ends the burst before she reaches you(or you can jump obviously). Bridge doesn't have to be too long, like 250blocks should be enough, need wings to turn though.

I've tried the teleporter shit but didn't like it, too often she hooks into the teleporter and you get fucked. Can beat it if you dig a large enough room underground kiting in a circle but it's unnecessarily harder than the bridge.

Its funny...I actually have full Chloro and a full Turtle set....Along with all the accessories you mentioned. I might just try it that way. Now I just have to find another bulb. Thats the most annoying part of Plantera I think.

For my plantera kill I was in full chlorophyte / leaf wings and I used the megashark. I found a flower 500 ft from the surface so I drilled it and booked it to daylight. I just flew around for a while and dodged while reaming plantera on the surface. I tried a few times underground but couldn't generate enough space to get away from the bouncing mines. I think I had spectre boots for the fast speed / extra flying equipped as well because plantera can't really switch directions too fast.

I kind of skipped hallowed as I was having more trouble killing the bosses to get the bars. I finally got destroyer down, made a drax, and immediately went chlorophyte hunting.

Bulbs are pretty easy if you've explored a large amount of your jungle since they appear on the map. Just check it for a few seconds, there's usually multiple bulbs at any one time so you should have one visible and since it's pink and 2block on the map it's easy to spot(even with orichalcum). For the facetank strat, you need a good weapon or 2 heart statues though, as once phase 2 starts, you start taking a lot more damage than you heal(phase 1 you don't lose any health). You can however just jump around and while you'll lose campfire regen, you reduce the damage taken by a fuckton so you're fine and with a good weapon it doesn't last very long, likes less than a minute or so. I guess using a Moon Charm if you have one would also make it better, as long as you fight at night obviously.

The bridge thing is a surefire easy way to beat it though as long as you use boomrangs or sword special attacks on like true night edge/excalibur/tera.

Yes, finding a bulb makes me want to scream. Thankfully it only took 2 attempts before I pulled to the surface and went that route.

I did end up getting the 'paladin hammer' or whatever from dungeon. I have played with that a bit and it seems pretty decent. Basically a boomerang that hits decently hard, counts as melee. Going to see if I can finally get the last charm from WoF so I can make some fire guantlets.

So...! Pyramids. Where the frack do I find them. In the sand, yes. I have gone through nine worlds (4 Small, 2 medium, 3 large) and have yet to find one. I even dug up most of the sand on the last two worlds. I am tempted to download a mapviewer to try and find one. They have the only vanity items I need and the last part for the Ankh Charm and the 4-Jump Balloon.
