If you like Unibroue you should give 'la fin du monde' a try. Six pack of that will get you fucked up real nicely.

It's called "The End of the World" afterall~

Something is always odd with that beer (in a good way). I drink stouts and etc that are a higher alcohol % (some by a good margin) but they don't hit me very hard. I drink this and I'm buzzed as hell afterwards everytime and I have no idea why.

The bubbles. It's not highly carbonated but it is really attenuated. The bubbles fuck you up man.

This year's batch of Epic's big bad baptist stout just hit shelves, and I bought the last two bombers at my local store last night. Drank one and had to agree with my friend who refers to it as "liquid Beyonc?"

Also recently had a bottle of dogfish head's higher math 20th anniversary ale. 17% and tastes like a boozy chocolate covered cherry. I need to grab another one or two to age because I bet it gets a lot better when the strong flavors settle down a bit

Not a beer but I saw this in the case doing a build a six yesterday and decided to give it a try. It just tastes like normal black cherry cream soda. If I didn't know it has alcohol in it I'd have never guessed. Couldn't taste it at all. Entirely too sweet to drink more than one of and it doesn't do a follow up beer any favors flavor wise but it was interesting as a novelty drink.

I'm in California for the next two days for the holiday with my girlfriends family. I've got a pliny the elder to take home... Anyone have other suggestions for what to grab?

Anyone know of a good IPA that is widely available?

Getting sick of Racer 5, Lagunitas and Victory Dirtwolf.
6% + only need apply.

Also, Anything Dogfishhead is trash.

Sierra Nevada "Torpedo" is solid. As is Stone Brewery's "Delicious IPA" and "Go To IPA", though they might be a little more difficult to find. But Sierra Nevada should be basically everywhere at this point.

Depending where you are, Three Floyd's APAs are pretty much some of the best you can find. You said IPAs, but IPAs and APAs are nearly identical.

But if you are not on the east coast or anywhere near the Chicago, then Ballast Point, Bell's Two Hearted (more mild on the bitter hops), Stone, Founder's Centennial IPA, Schafly Tasmanian IPA, Flying Dog 'Snake Dog.'

Maybe I should have specified, sorry, but stuff that isn't available in Connecticut. Both of those are and I agree are delicious.

Are Firestone Walker beers available in CT? Almost all their beers are delicious.

Ballast point can be picked up in MA. Not a fan
Stone is overrated as shit.
Founders is OK... nothing excellent
Flying Dog is a terrible brewery in general

Haven't heard of Schafly or Bells. Will have to see if its distro'd in MA..

What is this nectar of the gods you drink if the best out of those four respectable breweries is "OK"?

Haven't heard of Bells but dogging Founders and think Stone is overrated? Does not compute... Flying Dog is normally mediocre, but their IPA is very, very good (Top 25 to Top 50 IPA by most respectable reviewers). Bell's is based out of MI, should be easily available for you.

Hrmm, if you think Founder's is just OK I don't know what to recommend to you. Founder's puts out top quality beer across all categories.

Actually wait, have you tried Bud Light Platinum yet? That might hit the spot.

Yeah, Founders is good. They just started distributing out here and I've really enjoyed almost every one.

Bells is solid, they're out of Michigan

If you like IPAs, you'll like their Hopslam, it's one of the highest rated beers on the planet by just about every site that rates beer

Hopslam Ale | Bell's Brewery, Inc. | BeerAdvocate

I personally like the Bells Oberon (wheat), and if you like sours at all, check out Bells Oarsmen Ale (it's mildly sour). Bells Two-Hearted ale is their year-round standard IPA

Hopslam is only available a few months of the year, bars around here have special events for tapping a keg of Hopslam, and its gone the same nigh usually. Shits incredibly popular, and scarce(at least this far from Michigan it is)
