I can't drink when I golf. I went golfing today for the fourth time this year, was having a great round on the front too. Shot a 39 and then....

drank 3 sierra nevadas from the 8th hole to the 13th hole and completely ruined my round. Ended up shooting an 83.
I play better relaxed. Its 110 here in Arizona so a Coors light helps me achieve that. Anything heavier would put me out.

While its not really a summer beer, I've been really digging this stuff lately

Dunno where you'll find it outside of WI, but definitely worth trying if you see it around.

edit - woo, 200th post. I think combined with FoH, I'm slightly over 1000 now!

I had this Halcyon Unfiltered Wheat from Tallgrass today at the pool. Honestly not a whole lot is comfortable when it is 100+ degrees out, but it wasn't bad. Could almost go for something a little more light though. Just too damn hot outside.

Had some family come to town with a supply of Pliny The Elder and Blind Pig. Many sexual favors were offered by my friends in exchange for bottles in my Facebook taunt/brag post, but all from dudes unfortunately.

I really want to see how close the PTE homebrew recipe is to the real thing but I couldn't fit it in my brew schedule to fit it in in time to taste it against a fresh bottle of PTE. I have 25 gallons of beer (10 gallons of Cream Ale, 10 Gallons of IPA, and 5 Gallons of a 10.3% DIPA that is way too drinkable for a beer of that ABV) all set aside for a camping trip this weekend and I have to brew a Scottish 60 for a competition, an Imperial Stout for another comp, and an APA for a club experiment to be featured at a homebrew festival in August. I haven't had any homebrew for myself in over a month now since the pipeline is so full.

Blind Pig is the only underwhelming Russian River beer. To me at least.

I think you need to enjoy it in context. Compared to what the West Coast IPA (thanks a lot to PTE) has evolved into, yes, it is probably 'underwhelming.' But knowing the history of that beer and understanding is probably is more comparable to an APA, in that context it is highly enjoyable.

I personally thought that the darker beers (O.V.L, Porter) were the weakest of their portfolio. Not that they weren't well made, just not as exciting as some of their other offerings.

I thought Blind Pig was a brown ale? Nevermind I've never had Blind Pig, I was thinking of Woodstock Pig's Ear. Derp.

Had my first Grapefruit Sculpin the other night. While I'm still working my way into IPA's, and have had others that I enjoyed more, I wouldn't called it underrated. Will definitely revisit later.

Grapefruit Sculpin could never be considered underrated because it is universally beloved.

I had my first ever sour over the weekend. I really liked it. I can't seem to find it on BA but it was Prairie Gold's sour. Tasted kind of like orange juice, really.

Also Great Lakes has Lake Eerie Monster back. Love that stuff. One of my favorite Imperial IPA.

Beer Advocate - Prarie Gold

Sounds like it might be on the lower to mid range of sour.

An affinity for sours is one of the cruelest forms of beer love it seems. They're getting easier to find around here, but the selection is far from deep and inconsistent.

Thats the one I saw on BA but it wasn't that one. The ABV on the one I had was 7.5%.

Could not figure out a good way to keep chilled and serve 5 pony kegs of beer over our 4th of July camping trip. 90+F during the day and usually 65F-70F at night. This was the solution I came up with.

Just throw the whole damn kegarator onto a trailer. Pre-chilled it and the beer to around 30F, filled it about 1/2 way up with a mix of blocked and crushed ice, kept the beer ice-cold for all four days we were out there. Plus I got a lot of interesting looks/waves as we were driving out there.
