What? Now you're saying that Xbox won't even have a player base? I think you're going a little overboard Sean.
It was in response to a question about which system to get based of the OP's experiences in Australia and it's current Xbox Live base there over and beyond PS3 and PC users. It will surely be taking a major hit, so it was worth mentioning that purchasing a launch console off today's player base given the circumstances is a poor factor in determining which console to go with this generation.

You should just stop posting in this forum. The only thing you're capable of doing is making yourself look like an idiot. It's sad and pathetic that you did not understand the context of that statement.

Except Sean didn't say that. Read what I fucking quoted.THE XBONE IS FAR FROM GUARANTEED TO HAVE A PLAYER BASE DUDE

As in: The Xbone might not have a playerbase at all, like multiplayer games will be unplayable due to like 10 people owning an Xbone.

That is an overexaggerated opinion and it's also completely retarded.

Assumption. I've already seen lots of comments/posts/articles about people preordering and going Xbone now that Microsoft reversed it's DRM stance. We still have five months prior to launch. This is like all the Windows 8 shit. OMG it's horrible, Microsoft sucks, boycott windows. Meanwhile Windows 8 is the second fastest selling OS ever. People don't give a fuck what Microsoft stands for. They never have and Xbone isn't going to start turning the tide. They don't give a fuck, they just want to play Xbone.

You're a pro-Sony zealot whose console infatuation is out of touch with reality. Not all of us live the life you do and therefore are incapable of seeing gaming from your perspective. As such, I wasn't going to add any adjectives for you. As obvious as it supposedly was that you meant a "large, robust, massive" playerbase - to me from reading your pro PS4 rhetoric and anti-Xbone shit over and over I thought you literally meant it'd have no playerbase.

More like an educated guess than an assumption. I know plenty of people that see the poor value in the Xbox marketplace, a paywall to gain access to applications they already pay a subscription to use (What the fuck?) and the PR damage has been done. PS Plus gives it's users access to free games monthly, actually decent (Not better than Steam yet) gaming deals, and shows true value to subbing to it evenwithoutneeding it to play online multiplayer. Hopefully that type of service and support lasts when it is required for multiplayer on the PS4.

With that said, I am not saying the new Xbox won't sell. (And Sean didn't mean that either, and you are deciding to be a jack ass because he missed a word... You know what he meant so knock it the fuck off)

I am saying that it is behind in manufacturing process, has known engineering flaws already, is already suffering from supply chain logistic issues, may not come with it's expected launch title system seller (Titanfall), still has a slow reaction to the market and never addressed it for this generation of console either, and concentrated on a bunch of TV applications quite a few folks could give a rats ass about unless they were a fantasy football player. The DRM and 24 hour connection now being gone doesn't assist with the fact that their business methods are shit, they do not move fast enough for their consumers to make changes to capitalize on digital services (games, not movies in this example) and they are suffering from some very bad press as of right now that regardless of what was said after what they tried to pull, the damage is already done.

I am looking forward to a tilting of the scales back to Sony's favor even though I have been on the Xbox bandwagon since 2001. I am guessing after Micrisoft gets their asses handed to them this go around, they will not make the same mistake next generation.

And Gaige, Sean (and myself and if you look at the fucking poll, about 300+ others) probably wanted to see something good come out of Microsoft this go around. I know Sean and I both have 360's and enjoy games on both platforms. But there is no denying that the folks behind the next gen console project over at Microsoft do not have a fucking clue about their market. And it shows. Because the people leading up the project are the same folks that failed with their IPTV services back in 2004 thinking the market is "ready" now.

It's no wonder their entire console project is in shambles.

Can Gaige take a break to the RR? Would prevent me from constantly having to check this thread for meaningful updates only to find him trolling up the boards.

Such a wonder why anyone would want to choke slam you against a wall.
It's why he can only have sex with 15 year olds. Much older then that and they're strong enough to act on the murderous impulse that he causes when you have to hear him.

While that's overexaggerated - variety in online partners for PVP (which looks like almost ALL of the online lineup for X1 right now) is a ton funner when you're actually pairing up against different groups constantly.

If you've got a 20 vs 20 PVP game (a nice target to most people from what I gather being a non-fan of most shooters) going on and there's only say 100 people playing that game in your region at any time the odds of pairing back up against the same teams time after time go up astronomically - which gets boring quick. (Remember some regions are smaller than others - AU which he was referencing is pretty small - and with most people gaming only a few hours a day (lets say 3) that's 1/8th of units sold online at any time, and with about 20 titles within the first month that's all those units being split about 20 different ways. And of course the online paywall that will break it down even more since some people won't want to pay for XBL. And in the case of AU, from what I can see of comments here, most have data caps on their internet which will reduce the time for those that do even further. Based on my bullshit math there, which looks realistic to me you're looking at 160 units per title being played in a given window roughly - and if you want a variety of opponents you want a unit that's selling hundreds of thousands in your territory not just thousands as it's currently looking will occur in most of the international markets)

Gaige's retardation aside it seems a pretty bold claim to say that the xbone will be so unpopular that it'll be difficult to find many players on its popular games (If that's what people are saying).

Yeah. People aren't saying that.

The reply was in direct reply to DMK who thinks that Australia has a higher population of Xbox Live users than PS3 and PC users combined, therefore he thinks that will be the case aqain this go around which effects his purchase decision for a launch day console. To which Sean forgot to type a word in his reply to that and Gaige went into full trolling mode. We know that the XBone will have a population and fan base. But given everything we know about the systems today, specific value points, current popularity, and the large negative PR hit MS took in the last month and a half for DRM/Always on connection, etc. - our advice was to wait to see if there is a population shift to the PS4 in his country. Because judging from a lot of the polls out there on various forums and Microsoft obviously getting so much push back PS4 trumped their pre-order sales initially to the point that MS changed their tune, that population may indeed switch.

I think either way it's clear the winner before the trumpet is even played will be Sony. Based on value alone.

I was surprised they did the 180 so quick, I won't be switching back, I already am in love with the PS+ benefits, and plan to continue subscribing as long as they keep giving me free ps3 games in addition to being able to play any PS4 stuff. I'm primarily a pc gamer, but my PC is 3 years old at this point (laptop is 5, so it'll get replaced soonish), and I don't feel like upgrading for another 3 years for my pc gaming needs.

Clearly you weren't following the conversation either.

The context was that it is silly (and stupid) to buy an Xbone *just* for Titanfall on the bad and misguided assumption that it will have a more active and bigger player base for Titanfall than the PC version will, even in Australia where there's (apparently) not a massive PC community.

Between the mass negativity towards the Xbone, the PS4 being a far better value, what's been leaked about pre-orders, and Microsoft having manufacturing problems it's a terrible assumption to make at this point that the Xbone will have a bigger/better playerbase for any multiplayer title over PC or any other platform for quite some time. It's likely going to take quite some time for the Xbone to build up sales numbers.

Let's make a bold claim and generous claim and say that the Xbone sells 1 million at launch. That'shigherthan WiiU numbers, which actually sold out on launch. I bet Microsoft ships closer to around 500k due to manufacturing issues. Now, let's say that Australia gets around 2% of that 1 million. They currently have 1 million of the 77 million X360s sold, which is actually 1.3%, but I'll bump it up to 2%. That's a whopping 20,000 Xbones shipped/sold in Australia at launch.

20,000. That's an extremely generous 20,000 to boot. Plus, every single Xbone playerwon'tbe buying Titanfall. Attach rates for software on consoles are always pretty bad. So, does anyone honestly think that in any given region that the Xbone will have a higher amount of players than PC on any given multiplayer game after mathing that out? It's going to be a long fucking time before that's even remotely possible.

Btw, there's actually more PS3s sold in Australia than X360s.

Oh, an interview with Titanfall's devs on the "Cloud":http://kotaku.com/whats-so-great-abo...-dev-563160896

Microsoft has a cloud service called Azure (it's a real thing - you can go on their website right now and pay for servers and use them to run whatever you want). Microsoft realized that they could use that technology to solve our problem.

So they built this powerful system to let us create all sorts of tasks that they will run for us, and it can scale up and down automatically as players come and go. We can upload new programs for them to run and they handle the deployment for us. And they'll host our game servers for other platforms, too! Titanfall uses the Xbox Live Cloud to run dedicated servers for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
So, the PC version will also use the magic Cloud for Dedicated Servers. So, PC version it is. Superior in every way.

DMK lives in a nation where apparently PS3 and PC have an incredibly low online population so that they're unpalatable platforms to do multiplayer stuff on - if it can happen to 2 out of 3 this gen - there's no reason to not suspect that the last dog in this race might fall onto that same list this time around.
