If you just count console exclusives (no PC), I generally like the MS franchises a lot more than Sony's. Forza completely caught up to, and IMO surpassed GT this generation. Halo was a lot more fun than Resistance or Killzone, and I really liked Gears of War. Besides Metal Gear, there wasn't anything that really grabbed me on the PS3 until The Last of Us. I'm playing through Uncharted now and they are fantastic, but I can't remember any other PS exclusives that I was dying to play. I seem to enjoy western style ( and Eastern Europe!! ) games their Japanese counterparts, I assume that has something to do with it. I think with the PS4 having a much more western design background will help it a lot for people like me this generation. I don't care what companies name is on the box, I just want the platform that is going to give me the most games I like with the best price and least amount of BS. Sony won my cash this time around.

But do you not have a Playstation Plus subscription? That is the rub. How many people are using the free features that are actually paying for a sub anyways so it wouldn't even matter.
Considering that the PS3 has the highest Netflix usage of any device out there and has been so since before PS+ even existed I would say that it being free matters.

I am sick of military games. They want the destruction around you to feel real but nothing about real death. Get hit? hide in a corner and you will be ok! OK?, now lets move out!

Their friends aren't on any Xbone, it isn't out yet. Also, what fucking exclusives?
If that is where their friends list is going to .....

What exclusives for PS4? Knack? Killzone and Infamous? We are talking Xbox players that have already written those two games off a long time ago. The Order is the only PS4 exclusive I am interested in.

We're probably going to see a lot more exclusive games for the PS4 announced come Gamescon and Tokyo Game Show later this year as well.

I really don't see why a "Friends list" would be a reason to buy an inferior, more expensive console. Friends lists are easy to fill and rarely full of anyone but "acquaintances."

Well, especially considering that if they are more than just acquaintances, it should be relatively easy to convince them to move.

I mean, ALL the advantages this cycle are on the PS4. Cheaper, more powerful, doesn't require a special new headset, will include a fuckload more indie games, you get the PS+. The only incentive going the other way is a few "exclusives", many of which are still going to available on the PC anyway. Halo/Forza all have alternatives on PS4 that are at least arguably almost as good.

It isn't like xbox has something exclusive that is out of the league of the competition. If xbox had Dark Souls 2 or something exclusive, sure, but jesus, paying $100 extra for a weaker console, having to get a new headset, not getting the incredible deal of the PS+, getting bent over by xbox live, all so you can play Forza instead of GT? Really?

SP games are meh, I rather co op games like gears and that Xbox live friend list goes a long way, worth more than all microsoft's explanations. Sadly for MS they screwd the pooch and will likely lose alot of their player base during the next gen.

It's harder to program that 32 megs of special ram that has been giving Microsoft all of the chipset problems.

So that's why it's harder. Aside from that, not much else. The PS4 is just a stronger machine allowing more CPU/Ram/GPU power to reach the actual games instead of being tied up by the 3 various OS's that the Xbone has. It's just an extra restriction that the PS4 doesn't have.

Well considering the PS3 is the most used device for Netflix, i would say that is a pretty large selling point.

Chicken or the egg man. Just because lots of PS3 users use it for Netflix doesn't mean they are buying it just because they can access it.

You would have a point if Netflix itself was free if you bought a PS3.

The point is that the PS3 was one of the first more affordable Blu-Ray players so it was bought by people who like movies just as much as games. Then they added Netflix to it later on. Those same people still like movies. Nobody is buying the PS3 just because they don't have a paywall between them and Netflix. It's just a bonus.

Put it this way. Microsoft could drop the need for Xbox Live for Netflix today and not a single extra Xbox will be sold. That isn't what is stopping people from buying an Xbox.
Playstation Plus is a must have now compared to before when it was mediocre at best. Most people on the PS4 will have it. Making the point that Netflix isn't behind a wall an irrelevant bonus.

I could get a dongle for my TV for $50 if I wanted netflix. Some TVs come with that shit. Fuck, you can get a $80 blue ray which makes your TV smart. People dont buy $300-$500 consoles to watch netflix. and if you did youre a fucking idiot.

Also I dont see the difference between MS forced pay service and Sonys "optional" service to play online. since 97.56% of people wanting to buy a console play games online with friends which forces them to buy the online service regardless what console they buy.

It goes to the other benefits of the membership. Which is why this go around I am purchasing a PS4.

Xbox Live: (For Xbone)
* Multiplayer
* Access Netflix and other content you already subscribe too
* Friendlier user interface
* Access to demos
* Cloud

PS4: Free
Access Netflix and other subscribed content
Access to friends list
Access to demos/store

Playstation Plus: (For PS4)

* Multiplayer
* Access to timed 60 minute trials of the real game
* Access to 5-6 free games per month (This month happens to be Uncharted 3, Deux Ex Revolution, X-Com, Little Big Planet, Saints Row the 3rd and some others - But they switch, and you can keep all the games from any month as long as you want. I have about 10 so far. - This is where it pays for itself automatically)
* Access to decent sales. Nothing like Marketplace on Xbox Live, but Sub-Par to Steam still. Rotating daily and they are getting better.
* Ability to share between accounts - I can use the same Playstation Plus account for VITA and PS3/4. Which means I also download free games on the Vita.
* Cloud
* Auto downloads and the ability to schedule your machine to turn on and do updates while away

I would say the biggest value are the free games. I would pay $49.99 a year just for that ability. But to roll all those other services in creates a huge value add. Adding multiplayer in there doesn't even phase me, because of all the other perks aside from that. Xbox Live's perk is they put a paywall behind free applications anywhere else, and multiplayer. There is no value there at all. And as you know, their sales are horseshit and their marketplace prices are horrendous.

Those are some pretty awesome AAA titles we get for free. I do not see Microsoft ever doing that. I have already paid for the whole year and then some just by downloading 5 games I was already going to purchase anyway. Everything else is gravy, but still pretty good features and well worth the price.

So there is a big value difference there. And Microsoft with it's TV shenanigans, is barking up the wrong tree when they think they know what value means to a console purchaser. It sure as hell isn't having an ability to check fantasy football scores while being able to switch back to a game you are playing within 2 seconds.

That doesn't mean anything. Ps+ isn't required for multipayer on PS3. I simply want to know how many people are going to buy a PS4 and not play multiplayer. Those are the only people that would be affected.
I honestly am not buying a PS4 for multiplayer. That is what my PC is for (since the only multiplayer games I play are FPS and MMO's, and I hate FPS on consoles).

I will not pick up PS+ for the 4. I have a few games that are multi player, but I just don't have time for that shit anymore. I play them in single player mode, then retire them.
