All of those franchises sell amazingly well though, afaik. Also every Assassin's Creed release gets a thread here. As did the new Tomb Raider, a lot of sports titles, Forza and Gears. Not to mention all the fighting game posts here. I'd say I'm not the only one around that plays those games.

Shortened that for ya. Seems appropriate given that pretty much anything good in there isn't an xbox exclusive anyway.
Forza beat out this gen's Gran Turismo games imo. It's really the only Xbone exclusive that I'm going to be missing.

Gears and Forza are, and to me that's enough. I invested like $600 into a racing cockpit just for Forza so not like I'm going away from it anytime soon.

They have already started. MS said they are releasing free games to XBLG subscribers on the 1st and 16th of each month, starting with Fable 3, Halo 3, Assassin's Creed 2. I think it's only going until the end of the year right now, but I bet they'll expand the program to compete with PSN. The value difference right now is skewed big time in Sony's favor.

While I do agree that both Gears and Forza were good (to some extent, anyway),
People get reality shows named after them for less than this.

Yeah, when Logitech made their first 900 degree steering wheel for Gran Tourismo, I purchased it. It had paddle shifters, and gas/brake peddle. I took that and modded it myself to fit a full 15" steering wheel (same size as a normal car), just to make it more realistic. It came with an 11" wheel, which was absolutely tiny to race with. After modding the wheel, I built a cockpit type of thing to hold the wheel and foot peddles. It was a pretty badass setup, but nothing like what's readily available on the market today.

Aside from Forza, yeah I was going to say he should buy a PS4 and save $100 and get a better system and service with PS Plus.
If Gaige wants a real racing game he shouldn't be playing Forza anyway. He should play with the big dogs.

Same boat here. Now, I don't know if I'll even get a PS4 but I'll probably do what I've done for the other generations and buy one once there is a title I really want to play.
For the entire lifecycle of the PS3 I've only bought maybe a dozen or so games and probably got more value out of it as an early-days media center than anything else. Even though PS+ is a tremendous deal really, since I wouldn't play most of the free games and sinceI fucking hatesubscription services in general, I've never had it other than one promo trial. I just don't turn on the PS3 unless I am doing something specific these days and I've got millions of games left on the PC anyhow.
Ditto in my area. I did have a PC but I only used it to play EverQuest and RPGs when I was home with no friends.
Otherwise we had a bunch of Xbox's setup in separate rooms so no screen cheating, played almost exclusively Hang Em High+Pistols only, and talked shit by yelling across the house.

He also skipped that the free PS+ games (as well as any PSN titles bought digitally) will work on two PS3's as well (for PS3 titles, Vita is just a single however - no word on PS4) - so some value added for those with two systems as well.
Like the wife and I got BL2 + Season Pass for both of us to play together for a total of $50 for our console copies ($20 sale when we got the base, $30 Season pass) - even best case for PC got to about $35 per copy that I've seen since you need a single per PC.
This weeks The Smoking Tire podcast has Dan Greenwalt from Forza as a quest. Most of the TST crew are car guys, not gamers, but they asked some pretty good questions and i thought it was a great episode. Yes, there is some PR speak but it is very minimal compared to most interviews i have seen. Lots of great info, Forza 5 really sounds like it is going to be awesome.
